DO NOT TAKE BROOME!!!!!!!! Did not tell us until halfway through the semester how he had been calculating our participation grades. He was very vague in what he expected from us and his grading was extremely inconsistent. Also, there was no variety with the readings, every novel had some sort of African American background. Readings put me to sleep.

Mr. Broome is a total idiot! We hardly ever talked about english. Don't worry about going to class except to turn in a paper. Oh yeah, our grade was based on his last name....B for Broome!

Broome is horrible. He doesn't even know how to speak proper english, let alone teach it to others. I think a trained monkey, which is not far from what I think of Broome, could have taught this class and been more helpful. I could go on for days!

Broome is okay- he focuses all of 1001 to African American literature, so that's ALL you'll write about. Essays once a week, you can skip class alot- it's useless info... grades okay- get on his good side. Overall, he's okay, you'll probably get a B

Marvin Broome should never teach ANYTHING. He;s a terrible teacher. He's ALWAYS late (I was in his night class that started at 6 and he sometimes got there around 6:45). He doesn't give you any kind of help and doesn't listen to student input at all.

Mr. Broome was a nice man but aweful teacher. It's hard to present an essay according to his standards because he won't clearly demonstrate what his standards are. His course doesn't teach any English elements, it simply focuses on one essay topic.

He is a very nice person but is very very unorganized and unclear. He changes his mind without letting you know and then takes off points from your grade. He NEVER gives 100s, so dont ever expect one-- He only gives 75, 85, or rarely 95.

Believe everything this site says; He changes his mind everyday about the structure of your writing; his demands are impossible to meet; I spent at least 20 hours on each paper and got B's on them. Drop this class if you have it!!

Broom is very unorganized! Go to EVERY class b/c he changes the format for every essay EVERY class period, until the day it is finally due. He never actually reads any of the essays, but merely slaps a grade on the papers!
