Dr. Rob is awesome and soooo funny! He makes you read 3 books which are not that interesting. The TA grades the tests which are all essay. So the grading is subjective, but you can go to Rob and talk to him and he may change the grade.

Outland is a good professor for a survey class, he doesn't go into minute detail about insignificant things and has a great personality. Anyone who starts class off by saying he doesn't like Andrew Johnson is okay with me.

I don't like history but if I did I would have paid attention in class instead of sit on facebook. Doesn't use moodle so you must pick up your tests to know your grades. Great teacher overall and easy class. An hour or two of studying gets you an A.

Dr. Outland is a great teacher who presents the material in a straightforward way. His tests cover a ton of material and are all essay, so a large amount of studying is needed. There are also 3 books you have to read.

If you have to take American History, Outland is the way to go. Tests are a little hard (short answer and essay) and there is a good bit of reading, but overall, I would recommend Outland and HIST 2055 (if you must take history).

Great teacher. Lectures are fairly interesting and its clear what will be on the test. Tests are somewhat hard because they're so short so each question is worth about 10 points. not a lot of room for error.

Outland is a interesting, funny lecturer. Good about generalizing cuz lots of info for 1 semester. Difficult short answer/essay tests, graded by assistant. Go to class & pay attention you'll do fine, or if you can get notes/old tests from someone

I hated history until I took Outland's class. He's a funny guy and will help you before tests. Tests are short answer and essay, so you have to know your stuff to do well. DON'T BUY THE BOOK, TESTS ARE BASED ENTIRELY ON LECTURES!!

God bless old Rob for doing his best to inject some life into a history class. He's pretty funny and makes the class a little less dull. You take a lot of notes and you must go to class and do a little outside reading, but he grades fair!

Rob Outland is the greatest. He is hilarious and keeps everyone entertained with the material. You have to read 3 or 4 books for his class, but you can get by without reading them (I did.)

Outland is a good professor. If you are going to take his class, I think it is best to take it at night. These classes are normally quite a bit smaller, and it is easier to ask questions, and has a more laid back atmosphere.
