Review #1 / Course: CHEM 1201 / Instructor: RUPNIK K
First off, this is chemistry we're talking about and it is just as boring/horrible as you can imagine. BUT Rupnik tried his hardest to make it as entertaining as possible, between his hilarious, but lovable accent (which you get used to) and bringing little rubber duckies to class he tries very hard to keep everyone engaged which is hard to do to say the least. If you go to his reviews, which are amazingly helpful, and study the old exams he gives you its very possible to get an A. The final is made by the whole department and rupnik gave us a 16 point curve!! haha so in my opinion take him over Hogan at least.

Review #2 / Course: CHEM 1201 / Instructor: COOK E
Cook is an amazing teacher! She gives tons of bonus and really wants you to learn the material. Definitely take the time to go meet her during her office hours and you will not be sorry. Overall the course was easy, I got over a 100 by the end of the semester.

Review #3 / Course: CHEM 1201 / Instructor: SITUMA C
I don't see how anyone could say anything negative about Situma. She was always available for help with homework or out-of-class questions. I only gave the Exams and Grading a C and the Overall rate of the course a B, because the final (maybe the midterm too) was a departmental test. The general format of the regular core exams written by Situma were different from departmental tests. This made studying difficult because I did not know what to expect. But I still ended up with an A. Just study and attend class. You will be fine.

Review #4 / Course: CHEM 1201 / Instructor: HOPKINS J
Professor Hopkins (JHOP) is my favorite teacher by far. I am in the College of Engineering and took his class last semester. JHOP is amazing compared to the other chemistry classes I have sat in on. He provides notes at the beginning of the semester that essentially ensure that you understand all of the material he will present over the semester. If you bring those notes to class and follow along (as well as do the homework), you will come out of the class with a good grade AND a good understanding of the material. He uses Webassign for homework and allows multiple tries for each section of each question (as opposed to some teachers who make you submit the entire question as a whole). He has Bonus Exams that you can complete right before each test that can get you an extra percentage point towards your final grade. The Bonus Exams also really prepare you for the tests (which are scantron tests). His tests are fair and prepare you extremely well for the group final. Last semester, our class (his section) had a much higher average on the final exam (which is the same for all Chem 1201 classes) than every other class. He is always more than willing to work with you during office hours on any questions you may have about a test or homework or just general questions you have on your own. I have recommended him to several friends and they all like him just as much as I do. P.S. For those women who are commenting about his "sexist slurs", they are jokes and no one I have ever talked to feels as though he is degrading women. He has been nothing but respectful to myself and other females in the class.

Review #5 / Course: CHEM 1201 / Instructor: GILMAN S
Professors definitely MATTER! So DO NOT take Gilman. He does NOT teach at all. He dislikes the LSU football team and dissed the Saints. I know because all he elaborated on was FOOTBALL! Now that I have a different professor, I actually know what it means to be taught. This class is unorganized and he spends half an hour explaining a problem that he doesn't fully understand. Take ANY other professor, please!
