PETHKE C (ENGL)

In this class you'll have a lot of reading assignments, but they're interesting. The reading assignments are small parts form a long story. She'll do a review of the story the next day. Make sure that you participate because she'll definitely notice. She gave us 2 essays (a personal essay and a group research paper) to do. Which ever was the highest grade, she used as the grade for the third essay. However, she only did this because our class was sort of behind. The final is an online assessment. You'll be given the reading assignments and the essay topic 2 weeks prior to the due date. They give you the work cited (aka the sources), so you don't have to cite unless the some information in your essay came from another source than the list they give you. The grading for the final is from a 2 - 12. If you score high, you'll test out of ENGL 2000, so you'll get the credit for that class. Mrs. Pethke doesn't give your papers back early. She takes like a month to give them back. But she doesn't assign the due date for the next essay until you've gotten the first graded paper to see how you did. She doesn't post grades on moodle, so you'll sort of be anxious about what your grade is until she gives the essays back. I recommend Mrs. Pethke because she said that the other instructors grade REALLY hard. If your instructor wears a bow tie, they most likely are the hard graders.

Ms. Pethke is the easiest English teacher at LSU. She gives a lot of reading assignment, which aren't that long. They usually are articles, and you'll talk about them the next day in class. The articles are very interested. One thing about Ms. Pethke is she keeps her students interested. She genuinely cares for her students. She's so nice. One day, half the class was gone and she waited 20 minutes for them. The only thing I didn't like is that she doesn't gives grades until the final, so you're on your own until then. Even though the class is an hour and a half, the class goes by so fast. I recommend Pethke for ENGL 1001.

Pethke is nice when you want to talk to her and stuff. but if you like to be stay on schedule, dont take her. b/c she is going to postponed everything until the very end...and you may not even know what you got on the first essay..so if you like to be pushed by the end of the semester, she is a nice person to deal with. dont count on her if she promise you to get you grade ready by certain dates.

really easy class! easy ya books to read and papers/quizzes werent hard. she didnt give us back most of our grades but she was available through email. i didnt like it the first week but ended up LOVING this class. take it :)

Pethke is adorable. This class is fun, and it was a wonderful break from my accounting major. Take it no matter what your major is. The plays are hillarious.

This class is mainly on writing essays, not so much reading. Pethke truly a great teacher, organized & formats exactly what is needed for you essays. *Put specific examples & descriptions in your papers. Get on her good side and go to class!!!

Works VERY hard to please students and is very flexible, makes a difficult course attainable

THis is the easiest class ever. Dont take if you dont have time to do the readings though. She is sooo damn easy its ridiculous.

Mrs. Pethke is a great woman, and she really does mean well, you just will never have any feedback. Her tests do not match what we learned in class - They are ID Based questions from what you read and a couple of essays. Graded work never recieved.

This was an interesting class, but Mrs. Pethke was a horrible teacher. She never gave us our grades back & no one knew what their average was. Lots of books but easy & fun to read. Discussions were waste of time. Don't take with Pethke.

Ms. Pethke is nice, but she treats you like a 5th grader and takes FOREVER to grade papers and exams.

Pethke always asks for feedback and really wants her students to understand what's going down. my only big complaint is the fact that she grades harshly and doesn't get your papers back to you until 4 or 5 weeks after you turn them in...your blind

Mrs. Pethke is a really nice teacher but I hope you have enthusiastic peers in your class because it is mostly discussion. Take this class if you have time to read a book a week.

Pethke really know how to teach English comp. class!! Our class was in the computer lab and everything we needed was online (no books)! Our final was a group powerpoint, and all the writing assignments were original and creative (easy)!!

Pethke was amazing. Easy class. great teacher.
