Whatever you do, do not take your lab through Linda Allen. Take it through Kolniak. Allen has her TAs under a spell and they make the class way harder than it needs to be. Avoid Allen at all costs.

My TA was Jon Dumke. He's very helpful and he makes Chemistry sound useful. The labs are long, and writing them up is a pain, but they're kind of interesting. Midterm is easy. The final is a practical and it's a killer though.

Easy class, good teacher. The key if you take Allen is to do ALL of the old tests that she posts on her webpage. They are identical in format to the new tests. Homework is pretty quick, no big deal. If you had chem in high school, you should do fine.

This is a very straight forward and easy to follow lab. Dr. Allen presents the material in a simplistic fashion. Quizzes are easy, there are no major lab reports, and the midterm/finals were a joke. Enjoy, light a peanut on fire, and relax.

Good teacher, knows what she's talking about and presents material well but I wouldn't recommend her because her tests are nearly impossible! I studied my ass off and barely managed a C when I made an A in 1201 with Cook. I would recommend Hopkins!

Dr. Allen lectured very fast, and for most problems she only gave one example. The online homework on WebAssign can be pretty tough. She did not explain the information thoroughly at all...but if you must take her, study her practice tests.

Best 1201 teacher here. Great during office hours. 25 min w/ her is better than 2 hours with any TA. Very devoted to teaching her students and very considerate. Work old practice tests and get her to answer all questions. Class is a little boring

A seriously hard class, but Dr. Allen is a great professor. She wants you to do well and is willing to help you at all times. Tests are hard and studying is a must., but this is true for all chem. classes. Homework every week on webassign.

It all depends on your TA. Mine was garbage. Class is a bloddy joke because one TA could care less and the next is an evil apathetic slob. If you see that your TA is one of these, switch immediately or drop the course.

the material for 1202 is much more enjoyable than the material for 1201. allen is a great teacher, but you still have to keep up in 1202. take her if at all possible. i wish i would have taken her for 1201.
