ENGL 2000: English Composition

HORRIBLE!!!!! Worst teacher I have ever had at Lsu. Whatever you do, do not take her. She is completely terrible at grading, every class is drawn out,and you learn nothing. She has an attitude that is unprofessional and if you do not write according to her opinion, she will give you an F. Worst teacher I've literally ever been around.

Three big essays. Very slow at grading but allows you to go to office hours and review essay before submitting it. Cancels class alot! :)

I really like this teacher and class. I am not a big English person but i enjoyed the class. We had three papers, a few quizzes, and a presentation. The papers will depend on the topic of the class. Mine was creative argument. It includes a personal narrative, short story, and research paper. His grading is between somewhat easy and difficult. As long as you are grammatically correct you shouldn't make lower than an 85. The quizzes are very easy if you read the material before hand. The presentation was a joke compared to my marketing ones so it depends on your experience. Walsh was a great teacher, funny, and relateable to the students. Ended up with an A and really enjoyed he semester.

Ms. Keigan does nothing for the class towards english, I feel all I learned was about feminism. When we got our papers back she never told us what we needed to fix just what we did right. Constructive criticism is not given in this class. You have to look to the books for everything and she tells you so too.

nice lady. i thought she graded pretty easy. cancelled class a lot. very lax about turning in papers late.

Do. Not. Take. Him. He is worthless at teaching and grading! He does not explain assignments well, so you go home not knowing what the hell you're doing. And you don't find out what you're supposed to do until you make an 'F' on your paper! Also, quizzes are ridiculous because he quizzes you on the smallest details in the books! And most of the books are so BORING you can't even bring yourself to finish reading them. STAY AWAY!

class was pointless.. didn't help much. seemed like he came to class with nothing planned. only quizzes and papers... grades papers hard

Dr. Foreman was awesome ... I did her service learning class and it was a breeze. All you haad to do was go tutor kids for their reading and reflect on it ... dont be scared off by the service learning it is totoally worth your time ... I jsut did all the required stuff and came out with an A .. plus she is really nice

Very boring class and almost pointless. The things he would talk about in class seemed never to be relevant to what we were supposed to be writing in our papers. I think the only reason I did good in this class was because we were writing on movies. Grading is good. Not a hard class just ridiculously boring

Great teacher and very engaging. She is very personable and would recommend her to everyone. Had a paper due about every 2 weeks but they weren't long to write (3 pages). I wasn't looking forward to having to take ENGL 2000 as a junior but the class was actually very entertaining because of the instructor.

This class was basically just four papers and an easy presentation. If you are good at writing argument essays then you can you will be fine. If you are not good at writing papers then it's not an easy A. Thomas was a laid back nice teacher. I would take this class if I were you.

Dr. Rohloff was a really good teacher and a really nice/cool person, however, she grades extremely hard. Unless you are a pretty strong writer, I would not take her. I also do not recommend the music theme, unless you are really interested in it. No matter how hard I tired I could not get above a C on anything. I really think I would have gotten an A in 2000 had I taken another teacher in a more generic section. PS: Attendance in this class is an absolute MUST.

Pethke is nice when you want to talk to her and stuff. but if you like to be stay on schedule, dont take her. b/c she is going to postponed everything until the very end...and you may not even know what you got on the first essay..so if you like to be pushed by the end of the semester, she is a nice person to deal with. dont count on her if she promise you to get you grade ready by certain dates.

Cronin is so boring and he likes to ramble on and on about absolutely nothing. but he grades fairly easy if you go to the paper conferences and ask questions. you really dont have to go to class if you dont want just be there for moot courts and moot court meetings

Erin's one of the best graduate students in the English Department. She's smart, quirky, and energetic, which always makes class seem that much more interesting; you'll find that her enthusiasm is contagious--that you actually start to look forward to coming to class. Take everything you think you know about TA's and throw it out the window: Erin's cut from a much, much better mold. Highly recommended.

Read his assignment cuz he has random pop quizzes every now and then. Midterm was awful, but it is definitely not hard to get an A or a B in his class. Just go to class everyday, read, edit your papers according to his directions and you'll get an A

Probably the best, most sincere English teacher I've ever had. She's cool and young but still is a TEACHER. I learned so much and write really well now. Take her if you can!

Turner misses class all the time especially when you need her help on papers...DO NOT TAKE HER

The only reason I would recommend him is because he was SO EASY. But he was very confusing and never really explained what the assignment was about. He has his favorites as well.

She's terrible!!!!!! Avoid like the clap. She grades based on whether she likes you or not. Suck up and you'll do well. She starts the semester off by saying she doesn't give A's. She sucks!

SO EASY! She is really nice and really lenient. 3 papers, 3 group projects, and a couple of in class assignments. TAKE HER!!!

I really liked Chaney. If you participate in class, she really helps you out with your papers. She's not that tough of a grader, but you need to go to class to get a good grade. Take Chaney if you don't miss class much. Quizzes sometimes but easy

She is the best English teacher, sometimes she grades too hard. Take her you'll be glad you did she makes the stuff as painless as possible.

Berthoud is a terrible teacher. She gives too much homework, and you won't learn anything. And she is very rude and reluctant to see you outside of class.

Always available for help and really sweet guy. Have to work for an A but not hard to get a B. Gives outlines for papers. I hate writing and im not good at it but he makes you a better writer. If you want/need to become better writer, def take him.

Brock is awesome. The only thing you have to do is write 3 essays and do an easy journal for short stories. He's very laid back and grades easily

Ms. Normand is great - very organized and clear about class expectations. Had only 1 paper and 1 big project in the service learning course I took. Take her if you need another ENGLISH!

Dr. Irvin's Engl 2000 class focused mainly on social-class and education. It was interesting, but the subject gets old. Yor writing skills will improve. He doesnt give letter grades.

Nyman is very dedicated to what she does, but she has an attitude problem and picks favorites. don't get on her bad side because she will belittle you every chance she gets

All she did in class was show us how to google key terms to find articles on our papers. Takes attendance EVERY day so MUST go to class! Hardcore on grammar!!!

SERVICE LEARNING - great class - awesome teacher - do what is expected of you and you'll make the grade & learn a lot. Deborah Normand is one of the best instructors at LSU.

Reed isn't bad at all, but she gives you college topics and wants you to write them in a 5th grade format. She's all about format not content! not as easy as i thought it would be!
