This class requires you to practice your tuba 3 hours a day, but each semester, your playing skills will increase drastically. Dr. Skillen is an incredible teacher, mentor, friend, and tuba player. If youre good enough at tuba to get into the studio, take this class.

This class was easy if you went to class. He was a great teacher, but I don't think he's teaching 1751 anymore

The class is really boring. The tests are way more in depth than they should be for a general education class. I had it at 7:30 and I fell asleep almost every day, and Skillen is really boring.

Class is waaay to freakin early and if you miss it kills, so take this into concideration before scheduling. Skillen is funny though and makes class fun. got a 89.59 and it stayed a B

Dr Skillen is a nice person, but not professor...doesn't care about your grade He doesn't curve, there is no bonus, tests don't cover the material, he doesn't round up. From 110 students only 15 had an A. No one had more than 96 on any of his exams.

I did not enjoy Skillen. I found that the material that was on the test wasn't covered in the class lectures.

I love Prof. Skillen, he is so sweet and he is very intelligent. He is a tough grader and really expects you to apply what you learn in class. DO NOT MISS CLASS because he talks about stuff that is not on the powerpoint that he will put on the test.

Dr. Skillen is very particular about attendance. There are 4 attendance quizes throughout the semester and often questions on tests refer to events that occured in class. He puts all notes up on semester book as well as some listening material.

Skillen was a good teacher. The only thing that i didnt like was the attendance quizzes. That brought my grade down a lot. other than that, his tests are easy and he is interesting.

I had an 89.788B and he refused to round to a 90 A. I was very upset. Other than that, he is a good teacher. He posted the notes on PAWS. I knew nothing about music and should have gotten an A, since I did earn the 7/10 of the point!

He is a really great guy! he's made his living through being a musician so he knows everything he's talking about.....he does stutter some in class, but if you go to class and take notes, you'll do fine

Class can be easy if you make it easy. The only difficulty is learning the music and recognizing. This class really does teach you to "appreciate music". Go to class(your grade depends on it). Mr Skillen is sometimes corny, but he's a great teacher

go to class for the bonus points it will help you out big time. I would have gotten an A if I would have went. So easy.
