A LOT of reading for this teacher...200 pages a week. My teacher themed our class Caribbean fiction. This class really just depends on the teacher.

English people do not take this class! It is crosslisted with anthropology and if you're not an anth major and have no interest in anth you will hate it! It is not your typical english lit class. Otero is weird!

The course material was interesting, definitely don't take Dr. Otero, she requires a TON of reading.

Dr. Otero is probably the most unorganized, scatter brained professor in the university. The course material was too dense and vague for an intro class and she did not contribute anything to anything I learned in that class, which isn't much.

Dr. Otero is a wonderful professor. She is extremely knowledgeable and really enjoys the material, which goes a long way. Be prepared for a lot of reading though!
