Unfortunately Giammanco is the only teacher for PHYS 1100. The course is called Introduction to Physics, but he expects you to know quite a bit of physics before coming to his class. He just changed the online homework from webassign to Mastering Physics which is an unbelievably difficult program to work with. Only take this class if you absolutely have to!

The course isn't that hard at all. I just didn't study for the final, bombed it, and ended up with a C.

This class was relatively easy up until the final. It was very simple work and calculations. Giammanco is not the best teacher, and the homework is a pain. The tests are very straightforward, but the final exam threw me off a little bit.

My TA was this short Indian dude with a thick accent. He was very nice and helpful though. We didn't have to make the lab report too detailed or anything. Final is really easy. It's open book, so you don't have to study for it. Overall very easy.

You have to study very hard for this class, Giammanco is very funny, fast lecture. Mostly study by your own he didn't help much in class, but will curve for your grade at the end.

Giammanco is great. Uses props and sometimes embarrasses himself to get a concept across, but it works! Tests are tough but read old tests and work his homework problems!!

If your good at 2101, you'll be good at this one. If you suck at 2101, you'll suck at this one. Massive curve at the end for all classes. And of course, take Giammanco before his class fills up.

I didn't like Giamannco's teaching style. He does 1-2 problems in detail over the class period which doesn't help for all the types you have to learn. The dept tests are hard too.

Giammanco made physics really interesting, which is very hard to do. If you can do the homework you can do the tests. Every test some 10 point mult. choice so be careful. I got an 88.4 and he gave me an A. (89 lowest A)

Giammanco is a great teacher. The hardest part about this class is his homework, but you can get a zero on one homework and still have 100 for it. The test are fairly easy. It consists of 8 MC and 2 big problems.

Physics 1100 was a higher level high school physics class. Giammanco ok not the best teacher at LSU. He just has a horrible sense of humor!

Giammanco is an excellent teacher but I disagree with the stringent time limitations on tests. The material is pretty easy (although 2101 material is much easier) but time made tests a bit tricky.

This course covers a lot of material; you have to stay on top of it. The formula sheets for the tests are worthless. It should be a 4 hour course. Also, take Giammanco. He's the best physics teacher in the department.

Giammanco is a perfect match for this class since he holds an engineering degree and thinks like an engineer. WebAssign continues to be a weekly ritual. Quizes and Tests are based on HW problems.

Giammanco is a great instructor and a great teacher. Made E&M a very interesting and fascinating subject! Subject material is fairly involved and difficult, but it's possible to do fairly well if you put in the time. Highly recommended instructor.

All tests are full of trick questions, and will not tell you any specific info about a test. Good side is that he is usually available and fully answers any homework question.

This class is harder than 2101... it is the same book, but 1100 goes into depth of the first 6 chapters. If you have faith in your math skills, skip this class and take one that actually counts for your major!

intro to physics is not hard material at all, the problem is giammanco. the guy doesnt teach in a very understandable manner and his webassign hw is ridiculous. tests arent bad, but he doesnt curve or drop anything.

He's all right. He kind of goes off on rants every now and then. His test questions are worth too many ponts. If you miss one, it's -10 no if , ands, or buts. very little partial credit, but the homework points cane make up for it.

Get ready to spend all your time on this one class, and forget about Giammanco spending time to help you or if he does, he lets you know he hates it. Tests and h/w are nearly impossible. The tutors can barely figure it out if they can!
