Do not take Brumfield. All I can say. Not if you want a good grade. Not sympathetic to his students. The fact that a multiple choice question is worth ten points is ridiculous. Miss two of them and you have a 80%. He needs to figure out how to write a test.

Brumfield's tests do not reflect the information taught in class - they are much harder do you Have to be able to think on the fly. He actually said he makes them over info Not taught in class, b/c otherwise "everyone would get an A". Add to that the fact that your grade is based off only three tests (two 100 pt exams and a 200 pt final) and the fact that he doesn't drop or curve and you have a teacher who doesn't care about actually teaching material to help ppl learn. Oh yeah, and the tests are only ten questions worth 10 pnts each. And his supposed partial points never seem to appear. I understand the material yet I got a C. Take Smith.

Dr. Brumfield is very chill and very clear, but he grades pretty hard. THE TESTS ARE SUBJECTIVE!!!! He gives partial credit stingily - i.e. you can have the right answer but you'll only get half credit for not circling it. One time he mentioned it would help to have old exams, so that would be my one advice. Get old exams and get ready to study.

Brumfield was hilarious. He was always so mellow and it seemed that he didn't have a care in the world. He was a really good teacher though. For his research, he follows around army ant colonies
