MATTHEWS R (PSYC)

Matthews is a great speaker and well informed about the subject. He answers questions thoroughly and seems to care if you understand his answer. He required us to buy the text book, but trying to use the book together with his notes CONFUSED THE HELL OUT OF ME! He categorizes things much different than the book does. My suggestion to him is either scrap the book, or revamp your powerpoints.

Dr. Matthews is an awesome teacher and his class is definitely worth waking up for. Not only is he funny and entertaining, but most of the test material comes from class notes.

I did not find the course particularly interesting but it related a lot to my everyday work life which was nice. Matthews is a great teacher. I took him at 730am and he always woke me up. Gives funny examples from every view point so everyone understands and stays attentive. Homework and bonus opportunities help get the grade you want as long as you do not slack and do your share.

You will need to attend lecture and read the book to do well in the class. Luckily, the chapters in the book aren't long and the tests aren't cumulative. Each test has 3 extra credit questions. The homeworks are not hard, they normally come straight from the book, but it forces you to learn the material. Dr. Matthews is good teacher. He is concerned about student learning and a pretty funny guy. Overall, this is a class/teacher worth taking.

Dr. Matthews is a pretty good teacher. He talks too fast, but knows this and will slow down if you ask him to. He skips around through the material oddly, but usually gets it covered. However, he sometimes lets the class out early (up to half an hour early) because we're tried of the material or he's tried of teaching it. I found this very frustrating because I want and expect a full lecture. Despite this, Dr. Matthews is very funny and does his best to keep the class engaging, even when the material is very boring. The book is incredible boring and hard to read, but it is very helpful for the tests. I had to break the chapters into sections to slog through them, but was glad I did. Dr. Matthews' homeworks are very good. Overall, they are fairly easy and don't take too much time, but get deep enough into the material to help you really understand it. Homework Five was the hardest because we had to find two people to interview and the information we needed could come from any chapter. Even so, it wasn't too bad, and the other homeworks are clearer. I found the course material to be disapointingly boring, but Dr. Matthews did a good job overall with it. He really loves the material, but recognizes that not everyone does and works to show the relavance of the material and keeps classes from being dull.

Dr. Matthews were energetic and and overall good teacher, but he talked really fast and his tests were difficult. You need to study the lecture notes and the book! if you don't read the book it's pretty impossible to get an A on the test.

The course is very boring and the material is hard to grasp but if you attend the majority of the classes, do your homework, and read the chapters you should do fine. The teacher made the course a little more managable with ample extra credit oppourtunities and help outside of class.

Dr. M is a really good teacher. I loved his personality too! He's sarcastic, so you just have to know how to take it!! Over all the test are ok, they were a little hard for me though. Just study your slides and you will do fine on the test. You have to do your homework in his class, because it it graded but it is part of your overall grade!! Take him, you will like him. I did!!

Dr. Matthew is a phenomenal professor!! I never once dreaded taking his class! Extra credit opportunity out the wazzu, which we all love as students! His test are not overwhelmingly hard but they do reflect your having read the book and reviewed your notes. Dr. Matthews is never boring to listen to, he always keeps the students engaged. If I may say, this is not typically an easy A class, but it's interesting enough to become that because the information is not hard and with Dr. Matthews as the professor one can succeed beyond measure!! I ENJOYED this class very much.

Matthews is a great professor! At times he speaks a little fast but you only have to ask him to slow down and he doesn't mind. He can also be a bit sarcastic at times but I found it to be entertaining. Going to class and doing the homework is a must but he does make a 7:30AM class easy to get through. If you want to make an A I suggest going to class, doing the homeworks, and reading the text before the exams. He also gives bonus. I would definitely recommend Matthews to anyone.

He's pretty good, doesn't overload us with work (which he talks about work overload in jobs so he'd better not overload us) and was pretty easy to follow. The only thing I had a problem with were the actual exam questions, which were sometimes confusing. I understood the ideas behind them, but the way they were worded threw me off, making it feel like a particular answer could go either way. It wasn't the only reason I would feel uncertain about an answer, but it was the most common.

Dr. Matthews is a great teacher. While the 7:30 class may deter you, bring a cup of coffee, he'll keep you awake and interested! He uses real-life examples that you'll often see on the test. The notes he provides are great--go to class to fill them in, everything is on the test! You will need to study for this class, and oftentimes you'll need more than the notes for clarification. Overall, great class, great teacher!

The class is fun and Dr. Matthews really knows his stuff. If you go to class and fill in his notes, you'll at least get a C. If you want an A, your really going to need the book. Also, homework is a killer, and take bonus whenever he gives it! Every little bit helps!

Matthews was an awesome teacher. Barely missed this class because he made me want to get up and go at 7:30 in the morning. He is honest; when he says a test will be hard then you need to listen to him and study harder and occasionally he will give test questions in lecture to help you out. Overall, I would recommend this class to someone interested in learning about organizations, human resources etc.

Dr. Matthews is a teacher that if you get the jokes he tells is quite funny. He talks kinda fast so pay attention if you attend class, take good notes you’ll get a C, I tried reading the book didn’t find that it helped with the tests, but it’s one of those classes that you get out what you put in. overall the class is a good. One positive is that Dr. Matthews applies real world examples and tell you what to expect when you get a job.

This class was early in the morning, but you really have to go. Each lecture he says "and this is an exam question" at least once, and he isn't kidding. I had to study a lot more than I expected to make A's, but if you attend lecture and put forth the extra effort to study, you will do fine. The course content is also applicable to "real life", and the workplaces that all of us will hopefully end up in.

The instructor makes the class more enjoyable because he adds his own spin on certain concepts. He keeps the class interesting and does not put everyone to sleep. The content for the course is highly useful for the work environment especially if one is going into management. The tests are not that hard but I would suggest going over the notes after every class to refresh your memory on terms and concepts. Also, I would suggest going to every class b/c you might miss out on vital info. for the tests and some extra credit. I thought the class was going to be a bore but it was actually quite entertaining and knowledgeable for most aspects of life.

A fun and interesting class and the teacher makes it interesting to learn with his real world examples and pop culture references. also not a very complicated class and easy to learn as long as you once had a job

Matthews is a good instructor, but the material is so boring. There are many opportunities to get points with homework and extra credit. I highly suggest reading the material even though its super boring. Matthews provides many applied examples that make the ideas easier to understand. Very interesting if you're considering I/O or business. Gives many opportunities for extra credit (reviewing on this is one of them!) and assesses performance from more than just exams. No study guides, exams based on ppts and book.

Great teacher! Dr. Matthews makes the class very interesting and gives many examples to help understand the material. There are small homework assignments for each chapter, which is an easy way to earn points. He also gives bonus opportunities!

The teacher did make an effort to make a boring subject a little more tolerable.

He's a pretty upbeat guy that makes it easy to come to a terrible 7:30 class. He drinks lots of coffee and seems to really care about his class. He'll openly tell you he doesn't like people, and he thinks the plural of "accident" is "accidentses"

I'm typically not a class-goer. This 7:30 class was no exception. If your a good student and go to class you will probably get an A. If you're like me, don't underestimate the tests. Study hard and you can pull off the A. Do ex. credit too!

Dr. Matthews is a pretty good guy. Class can be a little dry but interesting to go to. Test are all multiple choice (sometimes tricky) with a couple of easy homework assignments. Only problem is he doesn't post grades on moodle.

I think this was a great class for business majors and psychology majors, not for science related majors. Nevertheless, it was interesting and highly applicable to my future work experiences.

GREAT teacher. Matthews communicates extremely effectively. Although the information doesn't seem interesting at first, it is very helpful to real life situations! Expect to study, but know that Matthews give LOTS of bonus opportunities! :) TAKE HIM!

Excellent elective for Managment majors. You see familiar material presented from a different perspective. (And he likes Office Space, so you know he can't be too bad, right?!)
