Review #1 / Course: THTR 1020 / Instructor: NELSON C
Chris Nelson is the most horrible teacher you could have for this class. While sometimes he can be nice, more often than not he's a moody, bitter, angry jerk. He wastes so much time in class talking about things you'll never need to know, and he makes it as boring as possible. You have to write a ridiculous 1000 word paper on one of the 5 plays you have to see (which are around 15 dollars each), and this paper is something that could be written in 200 words at most. He grades the papers very harshly (mainly on grammatical and structural errors instead of content of the class). He makes you separate into groups to put on a mini-production at the end of the semester, which is actually pretty fun. However, he makes sure to suck all of the fun out of it by making each person produce and ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS portfolio pertaining to the project. He doesn't even really talk about the portfolio, so you had better look up what you have to do before you start the group project. This is supposed to be an art elective of relative ease, and he makes it completely absurd. AVOID TAKING HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!

this is the worst class ever. chris nelson is a douche and he grades really hard. also, you have to pay $10-$20 to see plays throughout the semester. so aside from book costs, which are expensive, you also end up paying about 100 bucks out of pocket. the tests are really hard and you have to write a huge paper. unless you have to, don't take this class. this was my hardest class that semester.

This class could be interesting at times, but mostly it was a bore. Nelson is nice, you should really go to class and take notes. Better preparation for the test than the book, which wasn't very useful.
