You read case studies about Starbucks, General Motors, Disney, Katherine Graham and the Washington Post, Martha Stuart, and Tony's Seafood. Then you write papers for each of them. You have to do analysis papers for Starbucks and GM, a comparison paper for Martha, and narratives (easiest) for WA Post and Tony's. He grades hard, but you can edit every paper for a better grade. If you get a 84 on the first one, and a 91 on your edit, then he replaces the 84 with the 91. You have to be able to get across your thesis statement with supporting details to get a good grade. The midterm and final are papers you do at home (you can't edit these for a better grade). The content was interesting, but reading took up a lot of time. I wrote most of my papers in ~3 hrs the night before. Try not to read the material too late. On the plus side, you make a visit to Tony's, and he gives you free crawfish. =D

DO NOT let the advisors sucker you into taking this class. It was easy, but required a lot of reading and wasn't important for my major. Dr. Marin is a nice guy and is real easy going (he let us use wikipedia as a source!!!)

Dan sometimes tries too hard but he cares about his students. Has a little trouble saying what he means. Good writing tips though. Course is boring, WAY too much material to "have" to read. You can get by w/out reading but it's a bitch.

I was really excited about this class. I think it could have been interesting, but everything was so unorganized and confusing. There was a ton of reading in a very short amount of time. Marin's a nice guy, but not a great professor.
