dont take 2010 unless you HAVE to. this is the mc weed out class. about 1 writing assignment every week. he's kinda negative, but he knows it and sometimes tries to be funny. he is bearable- ive heard of other teachers that are worse. 92 is a B

Took the course in the summer. Easy to get a B, but next to impossible to get an A (I don't think anyone did). Class involved ten (yep) writing assignments with interviews. If you hate writing, it's a nightmare, but otherwise it's not so bad.

Not too bad of a class, a LOT of papers to write, but he grades pretty easily. Tests are all short answer, don't have to READ, just have to skim book and find the important stuff (numbered lists)

Jay Perkins is a very experienced journalist. This class will give you an idea of whether journalism is right for you. If you think it's too much writing, either get used to it or change your major!

Fun class and great teacher, but VERY time consuming. HUGE amount of outside work, but it isn't the teacher, it's the course...so don't run from him.

Perkins is pretty good, not the best but I've heard he is better than the other choices. The class requires a good amount of outside time writing news articles and such. It's pretty interesting and he teaches you a lot though.

If you're not a journalism major, you probably won't like this class, but he teaches it well and is very experienced. I enjoyed his class. Always answers his emails!

I had to drop this class last semester with Windhauser- I had a D and I'm an A/B student. I got an A with Perkins. Just try, go to class, do the work and ask if you need help. He beats the hell out of Windhauser!

Perkins is a teacher who knows his stuff; however, this makes him very arrogant and cocky. He never clearly specifies what he wants. The class is not a piece of cake because they use it to weed out all the students who shouldn't be MC majors.

This class required a LOT of outside work, but if you have to take it, Perkins makes it interesting and lets you out of class early to start on your assignments. He tries to get people to drop, but it gets better after the drop date.

He was pretty negative about the future industry of mass media....he said it'll be extinct...he enforced this belief of his so much, that I actually switched my major! But he is a good, and experienced teacher who knows his stuff!

If you're a mass comm major, you have to take it...they definitely try to get people out so be prepared...Perkins wasn't that bad, I've just heard of other teachers that were easier

He is not a teacher---just gives assignments and leaves class--you never know what he wants and is very hard first half of semester--i could handle the pressure--dropped it
