SHINDO C (HIST)

HIST 7957 is a class in which you write a paper of about 25-30 pages about a topic pertaining to your MA thesis (if you do one). This class helped me learn about the sheer subjectivity and opinion differences among professors, and where I was told that being concerned about facts and concepts was insignificant with history. As a result, this course helped me seal my fate with the history field. Again, another "shot in the dark" with paper requirements.

You can tell shindo has a passion for history. He is available for help via email, so take advantage of that. You write three essays, and they are easy if you read book/ watch movie. Tests require a lot of studying and cover a lot of material.

Shindo is good but his grader is tough. All papers, no tests. He shows a lot of documentaries, he has a good lecturing style.

Charles Shindo is a great teacher and the material is interesting. The tests are all essay and there is lots of material though. You also have to write three papers on books and movies. Be prepared to put in some time if you're taking this class!

He's not too bad, but I would say take someone else if you can. His tests are pretty hard and they are on the most random things, aka NOT what you study. You have to write three papers &if they aren't amazing, he will murder them.

Shindo and this class are both great. I learned a lot in the class and Shindo is very fair and down to earth. 5 papers to write along with a midterm and final. Read a few chapters of a book and write a paper. Pretty easy class and teacher.

Fairly easy class. Outlines given in class. Three tests with a few short answers and one essay question. Three book reviews.

Shindo is AWESOME! Knows his stuff and makes the lectures interesting (and I've always hated history!). 2 short midterms, 3 essay papers, and one final. Shindo also has a great personality.

SHINDO is AMAZING!! He's in his late-40s and Asian, BUT VERY UNDERSTANDABLE! He made Boring history sound INTERESTING! No BOOK YALL!! There was Lots of notes, but exams are straight up EASY! I hated History, but LOVED this class! WOW!!

Shindo is a very dry professor, and the course content with 4077 is rather disappointing (mostly documentaries and writing essays about race in pop culture). Could have bene a lot more interesting given the course content.

Take Shindo and 4077! He gives great lectures with interesting videos. I think if I had taken him when I was a freshman I would have become a history major...but I'm a senior. You won't regret taking this class!

Shindo is a tough grader on the essays, but he knows his stuff & the class, books & movies on rock n roll history were interesting.

Shindo is one of the best professors I have had. He makes the material interesting and is a great lecturer. Tests are half essay and can be difficult if you don't have a good understanding of the material.

Very interesting class. Gives a good perspective on the New Deal and FDR. Paper on a historical figure that isnt hard

Shindo is a very interesting teacher. He really loves history, you can tell. His essay exams are killer, though, so you really have to know your stuff and have your thoughts organized.

I absolutely loved Dr. Shindo! He is a talented lecturer, and an awesome teacher overall. The TA graded a little more difficult than I would have liked, but Dr. Shindo kicks butt! HIST 2057 is a good class in general, but if possible,TAKE SHINDO!

Shindo is the best history teacher I have ever had!! This class was interesting both because it was recent and because he made it interesting. This is the first history class I have ever liked in my life. Test grading depends on TA's, though.

He is a WONDERFUL professor - the best I've had at LSU! He's so knowledgable, very articulate, and his lectures are interesting! Tests are fair, too. Take him!

I thought this class would be great, but it was terrible. The lectures were NOT interesting, the books were horrible, and the lectures were a bore. This class is not worth taking; it was so hard to sit through that I dropped it for a "W"!!

Shindo made the class really interesting. He didn't assume that you knew relevant things. He lectured at a reasonable pace too. His tests are all essay and kinda hard but if you study the notes you'll get a good grade

Shindo is an awesome history teacher. I went into the class wanting to get it over with and expecting a C and I got a B.

Dr. Shindo really knows his history and he presents the material from a different perspective, there are a couple of papers throughtout the year, but overall, i'd definitely recommend this class.

Shindo is a GREAT teacher. His lectures were interesting and clear, and he gave outlines at the beginning of every class. He has a really good personality and is an excellent lecturer. He was one of the best professors I have ever had.

This was a pretty tough course, but Shindo was pretty cool. He always offers to answer any of your questions. Not a course for freshmen or people who can't write in my opinion.

Worst exams and grading of any course I've taken. I honestly think the grader rolls dice to determine grades.

Professor Shindo is a great guy and a great teacher. This course is highly recommended.

He's okay, it's just there are better history teachers out there. I would take a different teacher if I could do it all over.

This is truly a WOW teacher! I took his class 2 years ago and still think he is the greatest teacher. He makes it fun to go to class, and I don't even LIKE history. His tests are very fair too.
