MARTINEZ N (SPAN)

He grades easy but he doesn't help you understand the material. And he doesn't really prepare you well for the exams/test/etc. He also makes you speak in class A LOT but it's not so bad after a while.

ABSOLUTLEY TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT take Martinez. He is a horrible excuse for a Professor. It is truly a shame that we spend good money paying for tuition and in return the university gives us instructors like martinez. The man would walk in to class and mumble something under his breath every day such as "alright let's get this over with". He mumbled so softly that sitting in the front row directly in front of the podium at which he was standing I would still have to ask him to speak up. He was so monotone and awful to listen to. he did not teach. He picked a random exercise out of the book and had students go around the room repeating the same exercise aloud and just filling in the blanks. he wouldnot correct if they got the answer wrong, leaving half the class entirley clueless. Above all, he is horribly rude and did not demonstrate any interest in his student. i sent him over a dozen emails during the course of this semester, he did not acknowledge a single one. When going to his office hours, he did not look up from his computer when I asked him questions and gave short yes or no answers, even after being asked to elaborate. I am truly saddened that such a prestigeous university as LSU would allow their students to be instructed by such poor proffessors.

I'm not sure he cares at all, but he is easy to understand and is one of the better Spanish professors in that regard. Also willing to work with students during office hours.

If have to take 2102 make sure you take Martinez. he's such a smartass but it's hilarious. We just go through the exercises in the book and he gives away so many points on the tests, quizzes, and oral. You will definitely make a better grade with him

DON'T WORRY YALL, Spanish 2102 is the EASIEST of the 4 dreadful, required spanishes!! Martinez is in his early-50s, speaks VERY SOFT, has dry, crude humor, BUT GRADES EASILY! Martinez always looks bored, so you'll be teaching yourself basically!!!!

I have struggled for A in all span.Do not take span. @ LSU, the dept. is horrible, Take Arabic.Martinez is your best bet though

Martinez is hard to follow and never smiles. But, he grades fairly easy.

If you have to take 2102, I'd recommend taking Martinez. His grading is easy and he covers more of what is on the exam than other instructors I've had in the past. If you get a 6 of 8 on a quiz, he'll still give you above an A.

He always speaks in english! easy grader! i took the class once with another prof. and had to drop! but Martinez was AWESOME!! if you arent good in Span but have to take a lang for ur degree then definately take Martinez!

Martinez was a joke. All he did was read straight from the book and called out to a student for each exercise. He grades easy, so just show up, go through the BS and you will do fine.

Do you hate Spanish? If so, this guy is the right teacher for you. If you show up and do moderately well on your tests, you will get A/B. He basically hands you points on everything but the tests and final. Little previous knowledge of Span required.

All he does literally is call on people to answer questions to all of the exercises in the book. He explains stuff once and then immediately goes to the exercises. Difficult for students who don't think Spanish is easy. But talking helps you learn.

Martinez grades really easy, all you have to do is get through the material and know your verbs. I completely bombed an oral and still got a 90. Take Martinez if you can.

He is a very nice man and puts an effort into his teaching. Sometimes a little unclear and tests are hard but go to class and study and you'll do well. Not a blow off class but not too bad for spanish.

Nice guy, but you have to work a little bit to do well. Do really well on the tests, because the final is killer. He basically reads straight from the book and he grades leniently. You can't slack though, because you WILL fail.

He's kind of hard to understand, but since the information isn't very difficult, it doesn't really matter. Plus, he tries to make jokes to keep it from being too boring.

Class isn't very hard. Martinez is a lousy teacher, howerver. Doesn't care at all.

Martinez is okay; he's pretty boring but overall a nice guy and will work with you if you have to miss a quiz/oral exam. Besides being boring and not speaking Spanish during the class (I expected Spanish-only in the classroom) he's a good teacher.

He isn't the best teacher, but if you have to take Span 2101, take him. He is easier than most Spanish teachers.

I did well in the class, despite Martinez. He used material that had not been presented, and was often confusing with his methods. He made himself quite unavailable. No returned phone calls or emails, and was not in office hours.

Spanish is no fun and no teacher can change that. Martinez accepts this and plods though class everyday. He is not hard and he is not easy, he just teaches and grades. I took him because there are a lot worse out there.

I took it as a night class; we were not required to go to the language lab, and we only stayed for about 1/2 the allotted time. He is really nice though and ultimately a good guy.

It's spanish what else do I need to say, however, Martinez is a really down to earth teacher

martinez was the worst spanish teacher i have ever had in my life! he is very rude towards his students and he does not care if you get it, as long as he follows the syllabus!not there in office hours. doesn't explain material AT ALL

Hes a GOOD/EASY Teacher...

He has a very low voice, but it is easy to get used to.
