MALISOFF M (MATH)

This guy looks like a skinny wimp but he knows his stuff and communicates really well plus he's good at prepping students for the exams and the tests and quizzes aren't really very hard so overall I'd recommend him.

Multi-variable calculus is more interesting than single-variable in my opinion and having Malisoff around to teach helps. He's funny and a bit strange, but he curves his open book exams plus includes quizzes that are worth bonus points (first five quizzes count out of 10 or 12 given). His final exam is closed-book, but at least half of the problems are previous quizzes/test/homework problems. He can be a little demeaning if you don't understand the material or dare to ask questions, but his humor makes up for it.

Math 2057 is pretty brutal, I'd say in equivalence to cutting your own hand off with a dull knife. It's like any other calculus with straightforward formulas, except the abstract other stuff that comes along with it. If I hadn't had Malisoff, I wouldn't have gotten a B. He gives 3 open book exams during the semester, along with open book quizzes. He takes your first 5 quizzes out of 10, rather than your HIGHEST 5 which is a bit confusing and dumb. But overall, he's a nice dude. He is pretty strange looking and you'll see people snap pictures of him on phones but he is goofy and funny so it doesn't make the class too brutal. He is all over the place sometimes though so try to take good notes because the final is the only thing that isn't open book in the course. His final grading scale is RIDICULOUSLY curved though. If you have to take this brutal class, you won't learn much with Malisoff but you'll get the grade.

Best teacher ever !!! This guy is a true genuis. If you're smart, take him and you will learn a lot. If you're not, run away !!!

The course material was pretty easy. I think Malisoff too intelligent to teach this class. All tests and quizzes are open notes and book except for the final. No calculators and no questions asked during exams. His curves are amazing.

I was so worried that I'd fail the course b/c I failed Calc II twice but Malisoff made the course so easy to understand so I was able to make a B so I definitely recommend this guy especially since most of his exams are open books.

I have no idea what some of the bozos who evaluated this guy on this site are talking about b/c this guy is the best teacher I ever had at LSU because he knows the material inside out and really cares about his students and gives pretty easy tests.

This guy really knows how to explain stuff since he knows the material inside out and can totally relate to the problems students have with the course.

Take Malisoff if you want an easy A. his quizzes our hard.. but on tests and quizzes you can use your notes and book. he likes to bust out questions from Calc. 1 and 2 so i suggest bring your old notes to class!

This class was hard and boring, but Malisoff is a nice guy so I was still able to make a decent grade.

this dude is a creature of some sort who thinks he is the funniest mutha f'ing beast on the face of the earth....he's got slobber that collects on his bottom lip ...enough said...this guy sucks

he is harder on the higher math classes. the test are fairly easy, but the quizzes are the ones to watch out for. he's been known to go off on long tangents and threw a temper tantrum once! haha it was funny!

Malisoff is probably a brilliant person, but he cannot covey an idea to students if his life depeneded on it. Don't take him unless you want to learn only from the book.

This was a very hard course, but Malisoff is a really good teacher, so I was still able to do OK.

This was an elementary course in ordinary differential equations and linear algebra. Malisoff taught this material very well. He was very well prepared for class and stimulated my interest in the subjects.

It was a waste of time

Malisoff did a spectacular job teaching this course. The book was really hard to follow, but I had no problem understanding the material after Malisoff explained it. I am really glad there are excellent teachers like Malisoff at LSU.

Malisoff is a truly exceptional educator. He is very patient with the students, and explains the course material extremely well. I never enjoyed a course more than I enjoyed Malisoff's class. I wish all my teachers were as good as Malisoff.

Malisoff really really sucked as a teacher b/c no one understood anything in his class, he couldn't simplify problems so we could understand. but his tests were open book-open notebook, and they were multiple choice.

Very easy class. Grading scale - A=66-100; B=50-65; C=33-54, D=0-32. No F's. I'm not lying.
