In Geog 1003 with Andrew Sluyter I feel like the ceiling is closing in on me and I will surely die in this miserable hole. Regardless of the impending doom he obliviously continues to search happily and deeply through google earth, like the titanic violinist that played until the end. He goes through senseless lectures about the wonders of twitter and how it's changing the world while he acts like the internet is a new toy he's showing you how to use. It will make you want to scream things like "Are you kidding?" "I can't take this" from the back of the room. Gives you a sample final and midterm. Leads you to believe the one you'll take is identical. Lies. Not a hard topic, absolutely miserable class. In class exercises to make you keep coming back. Avoid it if you can.

Sluyter is a candidate for worst teacher at LSU. Very Boring. The midterm was incredibly easy and the final was incredibly hard. Plus there is a 12 page essay which is looked at tediously.

He has powerpoint slides and other matierials that help you study for the tests, the tests are pretty much questions from the cd that comes with the text book and anything he shows in class. He's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Sluyter is a good teacher, and shares interesting personal expierience/insight into the places studied in the course. He asks students to honor his classroom policys-punctuality, respect for others-some mispercieve him to be a blowhard. Good guy

The class was really interesting and I loved learning about the Spanish Americas, but Sluyter is THE most anal person I've ever met. Be prepared to do Powerpoints. The tests were pretty easy, but both had essay questions and multiple choice.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.........DO NOT TAKE SLUYTER!!! I can honestly say that he was the worse professor that I've ever had at LSU. It's obvious that he hates teaching and he's not concerned about the students. YOU CAN'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!!!!

He just reads off the powerpoints - he doesn't even really encourage you to come to class. If you study the powerpoints you'll be fine.

He has no personality and he does nothing to make the material interesting. The first 2 exams were mostly from the notes, but the 3rd was almost straight from the book. It's really hard to go to class and take it seriously.

The professor shows absolutely no respect or concern for the student; he refuses to answer students' questions and "teaches" irrelevant information for the course.
