HUTCHINSON L (ISDS)

It's a shame Laurene isn't teaching Database next semester. It was a great class and I learned a ton. Laurene knows what she's talking about since she works with database part-time as her other job so she has a ton of real world experience. She really wants her students to learn both SQL and Access environments. EVERYONE complains about the SQL test, but it's actually what I did best on. Just run through the statements without help 2-3 times and you're set.

Laurene is fantastic. She knows what she is talking about since she does real database work on the side. The course is VERY relevant to ISDS majors and I learned a ton. It isn't an easy course. I finished first in the class with a 94% overall so be prepared to stay on top of things. She gives two multiple choice/applications tests and the infamous SQL test. I read the book and studied the notes very hard for the mult choice tests and did fairly well. For the SQL test, just do the practices she gives you over and over until you get them. Also a very large database application project. Try to pick a good group and get started early! My only gripe was that she seems to grade in a way where she tends to look to take away points rather than reward them. So instead of focusing on how much you got right, she looks hard at what you got wrong and penalizes harshly for it. All in all, a great class and a great teacher. You will learn a lot.

EASY class... I didn't finish one assignment and ended up with a 89. This was after I made two C's on the multiple choice tests.

Audit: Get the CISA CD early and study the sections she reviews/tests each week and you're on your way to an A and a good certification. You will have to attend every class but the class is pretty straightforward. I spent about 3 hours studying/wk

The best damn ISDS class I've taken at LSU. Its not easy but if you really want to learn databases and sql, demand this teacher. Be prepared to spend some time on the material but know that you have a teacher who wants you to learn it by your side.

This is probably the easiest class at LSU. If you take this class and actually do your work, you will make an A.

easy class. it's all over the computer and you only go in for the exams. not much time is needed for this class. she is also very friendly and helpful. she sends lots of e-mails to remind you about everything that is due. GREAT teacher

learned a lot about Microsoft office programs. I like the way the course format is. There are plenty of opportunities to learn the programs. Laurene explains everything very well. She also returns emails very promptly. Good class for an A.

Pretty easy class. If you need an easy elective, take this class.

Hutchinson was great...very helpful and understanding....very easy A if you keep up with the assignments.

I would recommend ISDS 1100 to anyone. The final is the only semi-challenging test. Mrs. Laurene is the best; she sends out e-mail reminders for everything.

Mrs. Hutchinson teaches in a manner that you can understand, the group project is big but not that bad and the SQL test u will NEED TO STUDY for.

The final project really really sucked. She assigned it with like a month left of school, it took forever to do.

Good class if you want an easy A

She is the worst teacher I have ever had. You would think that she would be the best prof in the world since she taught an online course. Instead she had an attitude in her emails and was not very helpful. Penalizes the class if she is confusing

I took the Internet course, and if you know anything about Computers, take it over the internet. NOt hard stuff, but the test are pretty tough. GOod LUCK
