I liked Professor Irvine as a person and enjoyed the content of the course. But he expects a lot from his students, especially for an elective. He wants you to do a writing exercise on every reading you do for his class, but only picks up eight of them. His [three] tests cover *everything* he lectures about in class and he tends to be a tedious grader. Interesting material, but one of those classes that expects you to remember the little details.

Irvine is funny and engaging. The papers you have to write in his class are really tough, though, and require a ton of time outside class. The class makes you work hard, but it is very interesting and goes deep into the subject matter. Overall, difficult but enjoyable.

Prof. Irvine is great, but this course requires way too much time for an elective, seriously, but the info is interesting.

Irvine is cool and the class is interesting, but it takes up wayy too much time if you're looking for a humanity or something, take somethin else. I fell behind in my business classes becuase of the studying that is required
