This class was good. The material is interesting but it is boring. Carpenter is a nice guy. If your study you will do fine in this class. I loved the way he did his tests, each one was different. The first one was an open book group test where we walked around campus identifying different architecture structures. The second one was an essay test and he gives you the 3 different essay question options a week before to prepare. The third test was multiple choice. Then the final was multiple choice too but we answered questions from a slide show of pictures he continually played till the last person was done. One awesome thing is that he drops one test so if you are happy with your grade after the first three tests then your done with the class and dont have to take the final! After the third test he announced the people who had A's in the class and told them and who ever else was happy with their grade to come up to him after class letting him know if you won't be taking the final. If you need an elective i would recommend this class but it is boring (I slept a lot but still got an A)

I made a good grade, but it wasn't without its costs. TOO MUCH STUDYING for an ELECTIVE! He does not give an outline for notes, and it is a lot of European architects (no spelling), He is unorganized and each test is a completely diff. format.

Although the lectures could get somewhat monotonous, the material is interesting. Your grade is based on 3 out of 4 tests all with the same weight so you get to drop 1. Interesting class and good teacher.

Mr. Carpenter mumbled throughout his lectures and spoke really fast. The whole class was basically on slides and a lot of memorizing.

Ok, with all honesty, I am not a student who is a slacker or makes bad grades but this was a very boring class. Carpenter is very vague about info on test. The textbook is what helped me in the end. Take Theatre 1020 if you need an arts elective.

This class was seriously so boring. All you do is look at slides and watch movies during class. You have to study A LOT for the essay tests to do well on them. I barely got a B.

I got an A but struggled some. He is not clear about tests. The group open book test is harder than you would think and the essay test requires work. The third test is on 12 typed pages of information. Study and get an A. Not a joke course.

Great guy, but his exams are awful. If you need a nap, go to class, all you do is watch movies and look at slides.

Carpenter was a nice guy, but the material was very vague. Don't even bother with the final exam if you don't have to.

In 3 years at LSU I have never had a worse professor. For the final we were expected to identify 1369 slides of buildings, and 101 architects. BAD TEACHER. . BAD COMMUNICATION OF MATERIAL. HORRIBLE GRADING PROCEDURES
