Physics for PHYSICS MAJORS should NOT be taken by NON-PHYSICS MAJORS, unless you just enjoy a lot of work. Fabulous class for physics majors, though, and you should be prepared to put that much time and effort into physics if you are one.

He's a very nice guy, kind of boring sometimes, but if you read the book and do your assignments you should be very fine. Pay attention to the grader. Dr. Metcalf curves a LOT. Yes, believe me!

This class is designed to rape engineering students and the Physics Dept. has become VERY good at doing just that, try not to take this class with other hard ones, but of course if you're an engineer, that won't happen...good luck

demands to much from you, very few test, very few chances to bring up your grade, no curve, and know advanced calculus

Metcalf was the worst teacher I've ever had. Going to class was useless. We would have tests and homeworks covering concepts we weren't even remotely close to covering in class yet. Metcalf is perfect for the terrible physics dept we have here.
