LINDENFELD D (HIST)

So Lindenfeld is strict and not the most warm and fuzzy guy but its just him trying to maintain control of the class. If your late you can't just walk in. You have to wait for him to open the door to let you in. He will call you out if you are talking too. He needs to make sure that he maintains control though because it is a lot of information. I've talked to him one on one, he's nice, very knowledgable and does want you to learn. His tests are part essay (90%) and part map identification (5%). He gives you the two essay question options and what we need to identify on a map a week before to prepare. I would write outlines from the essay questions the night before and got an A in the class. You'll be fine if you do the work.

Lindenfeld seems like a cool guy, but really, I'm not in school to become bffs with my teachers or "get to know their personalities." I'm here to get a degree. This guy's class is far from interesting. Some of the material is decent stuff, but the lectures are SO DRY. You have to be absolutely WIRED to stay awake in this class -- I'm talking multiple energy drinks here. The TA grades all the tests, so you really don't hear Lindenfeld's feedback. He seems passionate about what he's teaching, but the test questions are often really vague and arbitrary, and with only 45/55 minutes (depending on how long you take to do the maps), it's hard to expand on the questions (esp when the TA basically wants you to write EVERY detail). It's a lot of outside work b/c the questions are basically big research questions, but fortunately, you get them a week ahead of time. If you have time to devote to the class, go ahead and take it. But if you can get it with someone else, do so.

For a 1000 level history class, Lindenfeld was a difficult teacher. I got an A in the class but had to work way harder than expected. His TA grades all the essays and the topics include a lot of material to prepare and remember. I'd try to take this class with another teacher but it's do-able if you have to.

At first I didn't think I'd like Dr. Lindenfeld, he just comes across as very dry and a little monotonous at times. But talk to him outside of class and he's really great. The books were interesting to read (and you must read because he grades on discussion days) and the exams weren't too bad, he gives questions in advance. I really enjoyed the class.

This is an awful course. I'm a history major and I thought it was boring. You'd be better off taking 1003 or 1001. DO NOT TAKE!!!

Funny teacher; made me laugh every class. Interesting and thorough overview of world history; grading is quite easy.

I think this class would have been a lot better if someone else was teaching it. Don't take it if you don't have to.

I think I would have liked this class better if the content wasn't so dry. Most of the time is spent on the Middle East. Some interesting lectures, but mostly dry.

I thought Lindenfeld was an excellent teacher. The material was very interesting as well. But sometimes I felt that he had a bad attitude toward his students.

BORING and all the tests are essay and the grading is rediculously hard because your essay(s) have to be perfect for an "A"!

This class was interesting material, but it was not presented in a such a way that provoked your curiosityand cause you to pay attention. The material in lectures was NEVER the test material. He has very poor communication skills.

He's alright. Pretty nice, but boring at times. The exams were essay but he gives you the questions ahead of time. I studied a LOT, but I still only got a C i guess cuz i have no interest in the subject. But if you like hist, he's a good teacher.

I would not recommend this class to anyone, everything he says in class is important but don't always go along with the test. The only good thing about this class is he gives makeups but theyare still very very hard.

The class takes a lot of outside work but he grades the exams pretty fair if you just put a bunch of information down. If you take the time to go to class and listen he is actually a very interesting teacher.

The professor is a nazi. I wouldn't recommend him if my life depended on it. You might as well be ready to teach yourself because he is the most evasive teacher I think I have ever had and he isn't willing to help when you have problems.
