Professors definitely MATTER! So DO NOT take Gilman. He does NOT teach at all. He dislikes the LSU football team and dissed the Saints. I know because all he elaborated on was FOOTBALL! Now that I have a different professor, I actually know what it means to be taught. This class is unorganized and he spends half an hour explaining a problem that he doesn't fully understand. Take ANY other professor, please!

I should have listened to the reviews I read about this guy. He doesn't teach; instead he rambles off-topic and "fouls" up most of the time and speeds through slides to catch up for loss time. His exams aren't too bad since his grading scale is pre-curved meaning 85+ is an A. However, what screwed me over were the random quizzes he gave in class which brought me down to a borderline A(85). This means you have to attend all of his useless lectures if you want a decent grade in his class. His homework will keep you up for hours. Don't take this class even if your only option is to take a 730 class...

Gilman has a cool personality, but this class is extremely hard. He doesn't explain the information thoroughly enough for you to understand. He just states what is on the slide and goes on to the next one. His exams are hard, but not too bad. It's easy to make a C on the exams if you know the basic concepts. If you want an A, make sure you know every equation in that chemistry book. His notes are ALWAYS accessible on moodle (brownie points!). I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. Everyone says to take Kolniak.

Dr. Gilmen was kinda boring but better than the other teachers that have taught this class. he gives copies of his notes in class, and gives extra point assignments.
