RUPNIK K (CHEM)

First off, this is chemistry we're talking about and it is just as boring/horrible as you can imagine. BUT Rupnik tried his hardest to make it as entertaining as possible, between his hilarious, but lovable accent (which you get used to) and bringing little rubber duckies to class he tries very hard to keep everyone engaged which is hard to do to say the least. If you go to his reviews, which are amazingly helpful, and study the old exams he gives you its very possible to get an A. The final is made by the whole department and rupnik gave us a 16 point curve!! haha so in my opinion take him over Hogan at least.

Take Chemistry with Dr. Rupnik and follow all of the advises i'm going to give you to an A in the class! The grade is divided into 5 tests (4 regular exams and the Final), online homework and class participation. Each of the four exams is worth 12.5% of your final grade, so can still get an A in the class if you do badly in a couple of them. Test 4 is still worth 12.5% but is half cumulative. The final is worth 35% but is cumulative, and easier than previous tests. Class participation is evaluated with quizzes. HINTS: 1. GO TO CLASS, class participation is worth 10% of the grade and he doesn't even check the quizzes. He apparently just records your name in his grade book. 2) GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS and show him how interested you are in the class. You should know some of the material before seeing him, so he knows you actually make an effort in the class. 3) For the tests, study from his practice exams to get a feel of what to expect on the actual exam. I got an A in the class when it was mathematically impossible to get it with the grade I had before the final. I believe he curved the final grade and/or remembered me from his office hours.

rupnik is a bad teacher. his lectures and notes are very scattered and sloppy organized. nice guy, but his online hw also sucks alot.

This guy is a prick and really sucks as a teacher....should be fired with the budget cutdown

His exams are not consistent. Each exam is very different from the previous. The way the questions are asked changes drastically. Material is not hard though, but his exams were just bad.

Rupnik is not THAT great of a teacher but he gives SO much bonus it's fantastic! If you are lazy don't take him because there IS work involved but if you want a VERY VERY easy a by doing minimal work take him

Rupnik is boring and the class is boring. But he does give a lot of bonus points and final project and homework helps your grade a lot too. You don't need the book. If you remember high school chemistry thne you'll do fine.

Rupnik was not too good at speaking, its not neccessary to go to class, just read the book and do the online homework.

It was annoying b/c we never knew what to do and he always had us write like 20 page reports for each experiment. Kind of a waste of time

Rupnik cares more about learning everything there is to know about physical chemistry and instrumentation rather than grades. Lots of work but good class

Said to be an easy teacher, wrong! Rupnik is hard to understand and is very boring during lectures. No real prepartion for classes. Material is not very difficult, it's understanding him that's a difficulty. Nice guy, easy to approach for questions.

whenever he was giving directions on assignments, the whole class was very confused by what he was actually asking of us - english wasn't his native language. however, we could bring in little cards to each test w/ whatever we wanted on them.

NEVER went to class except exam days. He has an accent and is boring most of the time. IF you go to class, do bonus quizzes, and study a little bit, you will get a A or B.

Rupnik is alternately amiable and intimidating. He is very willing to help anyone who shows interest, but the class is incredibly boring. I would take it only if it was required.

Difficult since it's for nonscience majors [unless you like chem]. Let us use one notecard with notes on tests. Should take physical sci if you need sequence b/c CHEM 1002 is a nightmare.

learned a lot. teacher explained material very well. notes came from online and followed book very well. book was needed to help explain chapters but that was about it. Test were not too difficult as long as you paid attention in class.

Easy class. Played games on computer during lectures and still got an A. Similar to hs chemistry. Do your project and you don't need the book. Web pre-exams give you bonus points.

Krupink's tests rarely covered the material discussed in class. A difficult teacher with very poor communication skills.

Rupnik is an awesome guy, but his accent makes it hard to understand him sometimes. Also, his writing ability is shakey.

He is Russian so it is kind of hard to understand him. His tests aren't very hard but he doesn't teach the material very well. I had to teach myself most of the stuff.

This class suck! HATE CHEMISTRY! although this guy made a lil more fun, but sometimes it was hard to understand his accent. His a funny guy though. You have to spend at least an hour a day to keep up, and ALWAYS ALWAYS turn in your homework!

This class was hard to follow and confusing! Try to do well on the webassign to balance out test grades.

His grading policies are almost non exsistent, but I'll say this: I missed most of the HW's, most of the quizs, and failed most of the tests, but because I did great on the project and passed the exam, I got a C...........go figure

He reads slides in class that are posted on the internet and gives sample tests. Aside from one hard test, it is easy, even if you don't know much about chemistry.

Rupnik is too smart for non-science majors. He makes things more difficult than need be. Everyone must do a power-point presentation in front of the class (200 points). Web-based homework, lectures posted online.

If you take this lab take Dr. Rupnik, he lets you correct your lab reports.

He got an attitude when people talked or left early. Warmed up a bit towards the end, though.

The class itself was boring, but Rupnik tried to make as enjoyable as it could be. His accent is a little heavy, but you get used to it quick (and it can double as some amusement during boring lecure topics).

A great class. Dr. Rupnik was great teacher, and he always held review sessions for the tests. I would highly recommend him f you had to take this class.

Rupnik trieshis hardest to help us with outside review sessions but i wouldnt recommend him. He is too hard and there are better teachers at LSU.

I only took 12 hours this semester so i could focus on chemistry, i eat, sleep and breathe chem but I still got a D. The class is very hard to understand.

This teacher almost screwed each of us out of one letter grade. I had to go to the dean to prove I had an A and then all of our grades were changed. He is Russian and you cannot understand a word he says!

He is the crappiest teacher I have ever had. Throughout the course you don't really know your grade. He has a horrible accent and is extremely boring

I hardly ever understood the guy, and didn't learn much in class. I had to read the book to understand. If you catch on to Chemistry really well you may not need a book, all notes are online, but if not, get the book and read it.

this was supposed to be an easy class for NON SCIENCE majors. i could see how the class would be easy with a different teacher but Rupnik was horrible. every time i went talk to him he told me i was stupid and just needed to study harder.

The first day of class I thought I accidentally walked into a Physics course. What we were going over was certainly not chemistry, and judging by the looks on the other peoples faces, I wasn't the only one confused.

Hard to understand and very boring, but very easy class...you get to bring a piece of paper with WHATEVER you want for each exam...piece of cake!!!

It's chemistry, so of course it's not interesting. If you can, take Rupnik. He can be a little hard to understand, but he's a nice guy and it's easy to make an A
