FOLTZ D (BIOL)

I don't hear much good news about the genetics instructors at LSU and this is no different. Foltz is not a bad teacher per se, but he can be somewhat timid, especially around girls. He can be difficult to understand at times but will gladly explain things after class. His exams are multiple choice, but he gives many old tests for each section along with his notes packet at the beginning of the year. While he was not a stellar teacher, there are definitely worse options for this course.

DON'T TAKE HIM!!! FIND ANOTHER TEACHER... I'm not just one of those students who didn't study or go to class.... I studied everyday and met with my TA during office hours to understand the material..FOLTZ IS VERY HARD TO FOLLOW AND UNDERSTAND... HIS CLASS IS SUPER DUPER BORING... AND HIS TEST SUCK BECAUSE HE USES THE TRICKIEST WORDING EVER.... THIS MAN WILL MAKE YOU HATE GENETICS!!! .5-2% CURVE (LIKE IT HELPS) AND SOMETIMES YOU CAN TAKE THE MAKEUP EXAM BUT U HAVE TO DROP YOUR LOWEST GRADE...ONLY 400 POINTS IN THE ENTIRE COURSE...NO ROOM TO MESS UP!!!

The class is interesting, but Foltz is the most horrible teacher. I don't think he actually knew how to curve. Attempting to understand his silly note packet is a waste of time, and his exam questions were unnecessarily long

Dr. Foltz scribbles all over the lecture package and is very hard to follow. It was only after the tests that my TA cleared things up that should have been explained beforehand! Go through ALL of the problems from the old tests...that's a good start.

Dr Foltz is a very smart guy but can be boring at times. I wouldnt take this class unless you have a love for genetics because it will take alllll of your time.

Dr. Foltz makes his class a waste of time. He is one of the worst teachers I've ever had and he spoke perfect english.

foltz is the worst. believe the horror stories. e.g. the man gave a .01% curve on the first test to insult us. avoid this pathetic teacher.

BOOOORING. Foltz is very boring, and his exam questions are so vague that he gives you a piece of paper to tell him so if you think you can't answer it. It happens frequently too. Don't take him if you can.

The classes are boring, but the material is well covered in the notes and the tests are consistent with the notes

Dr. Foltz is a great teacher but you have to do all the homework! The book will not help you and just reading the notes won't either. Take advantage of your T.A.s and the old test. Ask questions and you'll do good!

Good thing is you don't have to buy the book - you buy a packet of his notes. Interesting class but it was hard to see where he got the questions on the test. Wasn't easy

Foltz is a boring old man who belongs in a lab, not teaching students where he can confuse them!

This class is really easy. Most of it is stuff you already learned from other biology classes. Foltz is a good teacher, but he does take a long time to get through the material. He goes on and on about easy stuff. But I would recomend him

His tests are challenging but the course is very thorough.

No offense to Dr. Foltz, but the class is incredibly boring. Everytime I went, I would look around and see at LEAST 5 people sleeping if not more.

Interesting class, but material on test do not reflect class discussions. The tests were much harder.
