DUNCAN W (CSC)

Duncan is cool guy who know what he is talking about and enjoys cracking a joke or who. He makes it interesting to come to class and when you go, you learn what he teaches. His tests are pretty tough, you have to write a program at the end on paper. Overall he is cool and I would recommend him.

Duncan...is not engaging. Class was miserably slow. I had to bring my laptop to pass the time, but you shouldn't zone out of class too much. You need to keep checking in to make sure you don't fall behind. Grades are determined by tests (not bad, can be tricky), programs (you're given a week or two then you submit them online. they're easy, kinda fun) and quizzes (can be easy, i bombed some though but they don't really matter). I think that's all for grades. I didn't even get the book. As long as you know what's going on in class, you don't need it. Duncan's not a bad teacher, I had no programming experience and didn't have any problem with him. It's just the material that some people may have a better time with than others.

Very difficult at first if you dont have programming knowledge. After a month you catch on and it becomes easy. He gives helpful study guides to make the programs.

Great teacher. Very thorough. Programs were challenging, but he was always in his office and very patient if you needed help. Tests aren't too bad if you study well and understand how the algorithms work.

bad at explaining java (repetitive). be prepared to learn on your own (internet). if you have a problem with a program, he'll likely do it in class just before it's due (or use office hours). he gives very straighforward answers when asked personally

Duncan doesn't know a thing about teaching. He didn't even teach pseudocode in an introductory CSC class. I changed majors to avoid the rest of the CSC department, which I've heard is terrible.

Duncan is one of those brilliant idiots. He has plenty book sense but little common sense. He was always confusing us and tripping over his own words. However, if you read this class is a breeze and he offer's his time and answers emails quickly.

The best teacher for this course. Hands down. This guy will meet with you WHENEVER needed to help you. That includes Saturdays and Sundays. And that is the truth. The best teacher I have had at LSU by far.

This must be this guy's first year teaching. He constantly makes mistakes, but overall he's pretty cool. He does things to try to make you laugh. CSC is hard anyway.
