YOUNG D (PHYS)

Very hard if you aren't good at physics (but not as bad as 2002!) Young teaches by powerpoints (opposed to Chastain who writes on the board alot and supplements with powerpoints) The good thing about Young is he does the review sessions, and it seemed he played a bigger part than the other professors in making out the exams.

Dr. Young is an excellent teacher and is interested in making sure his students understand the material taught, which is a big plus for a course like physics! Homework twice a week is mandatory and a big pain/stress, but unlike physics 1, Young will eliminate one of the homeworks on test week. Exams this semester were in the computer lab, which was AWFUL, but department-wide so avoiding Young won't change that. If you are required to take this class, Young is a great bet.

Great teacher and class. If you spend one night a week for 2 hours and complete the homework then that is the only studing you need to do for the tests. No outside work required and no time limit homework

Dr. Young may be a bit arrogant, but he is a great teacher and will help you get through this course (even if you aren't getting it) as long as you go see him. I wish I had visited his office hours earlier on in the semester!

Young is not a bad guy, it's the departmental tests that will kill you. Best advice--work as many problems from the book and go over the concept reviews at the end of the book: that's where the majority of the problems will come from.

Young is interesting and down to earth. Material is extremely challenging. Stay on top of the material and you'll do alright. DO NOT GET BEHIND. Overall class is tough.

Young made the class interesting. the webassigns give you enough practice, so no need to study. pretty easy A

Dr. Young was great! Very down to Earth & the coolest teacher I've ever had. Go to class for clicker questions. He can be tricky. For webassign homeworks, just go to Cramster.com or get the "CD". He lets out early. Awesome experiments!Take HIM!

This is just a hard class. Young is cocky and arrogant but if you can ignore his personality, he isn't that bad. He curves because the tests are so hard and you run out of time to finish. Good luck.

When the Hulk isn't working out (which is almost never), he's teaching the easiest class ever. If you go to the review session before each test you will get an A.

This class was straight powerpoints occasionally interrupted by one of Young's funny jokes. Course content is more interesting than 2001.

Dr. Young has great personality but he is boring as hell and his test can be very hard sometimes but he is available all the time and he cares just practice the material as much as you can and you will do fine. He grading scale almost ensures a C

D Young is a great guy, tells some corny jokes but not bad. Webassign every week, but great grading policy.

Dr. Young is a great teacher, but the class is not easy.

Young is really cool. His tests aren't a walk in the park, but aren't too bad. If the grades were terrible, he curved very fairly.

His webassign homework questions do not reflect the test questions at all. he wants to challenge you and all he does is frustrates you

The class is hard, but its physics so theres no way around it, however dr. young made the class intersesting with experiments and i didnt mind making it to this 8:30 class.

Very hard material. A lot of studying. Recitation helps though if you get a good TA. Young is way too egotistical. Thinks he is so hot. Whatever.

Young is a DB, he is good at reading straight from the powerpoint. Test are not like the webassign, conceptual questions are really trick questions. Do not take him, unless you need an hour out of your day for a nap during his class.

Many people struggled with this course, I really don't know why. It was extremely easy, but I'm a math major, so perhaps my opinion doesn't matter.

Young dropped the lowest test, but it's still hard to get an A; make sure to do the homework, it helps your grade and understanding of material

2002 is a lot harder than 2001. Do not blow off studying for any exams, they are tough...and there are few gimmie questions. young is a nice guy though, and very pleasant in office hours...just be prepared to study a lot. no, seriously.

Hard class, lots of studying, boring class

Study about 2 days in advance of test. Quizes, participation, and homework bring up your grade.

We had Webassign every week and never got a break! It got to be too much

One of the best teachers i've had, he made class really fun and the material was kind of interesting. definetly take this class with young

Hard tests, could never finish in time-webassigns every week-posts his notes online, but had to go to class for partcipation points

Great teacher, treats students very well. Class was time-consuming, but typical for a physics class. If you have to take Physics 2002, take him.

Young is hands down the best physics teacher at LSU. He is a little old-school in that he uses the chalk board, but a great guy.

He makes class interesting and fun, he likes to kill everyone on the third test, overall not bad for a physics class.

Dr Young is prob the greatest prof on campus; don't take this class for fun it requires work, its challenging,but fun

Great guy, thinks C's are great grades, hard as heck! Take Gregg if you want your grade to reflect your knowledge of the info and effort! Young made his test and hw hard for phsyics majors!!

I failed to realize what a teacher this man was until my professor changed for 2002. Be certain to take him both semesters; most of the alternatives profs are unbearable. His lectures are well presented in class, organized, coherent, and fascinating.

Young is a good fair teacher, and tries to help you out.

Dr. Young Rocks! He's smart and funny and knows how to teach. The grading system can be tough, but he gives alot of extra points and will help you out. Material isn't that bad and not really hard

Tough class but Dr. Young is great!!! He gives up alot of his time to help students outside of class.

His Tests are not too bad, but many people cheat. If you have the "hook up" go for this class. If you do not, dont take this man.

Young is entertaining and a good teacher. He wants his students to do well and he's cute, too!

Young gives no partial credit, but if you go to his office hours he practically does the homework for you and that's what brings your grades up. He is nice and has a great personality. Makes physics fun at 7:30 in the morning
