POLLOCK S (BIOL)

Biology 1002 shouldn't be this hard. Pollock had a very nice personality towards his students. Had office hours to talk to him about any problems you may have and was an all around good guy. But for him being so nice, you would figure his tests would be somewhat easy as well. Think again. He gives you a study guide but be sure to understand every bit and detail in the notes. I recommend going to class because he hints exam questions. But all around I would recommend taking him if your into biology. If not, go for Crousillac if available. That guys a breeze

He comes off as a rude guy but once you get to know him he is really nice and helpful. Everyone freaks out about his test and say he is so hard but he really isn't. The more you study the worse you do in my opinion, just go to class and pay attention because his test are exactly that. No need for outside reading, doesn't help you just waste your time. Compared to other bio 1202 teachers he seams a bit easier as long as you go to class, take good notes, and study exactly your notes from his lectures for the test.

Dr. Pollock is a very understanding and approachable teacher. He likes for his students to learn and do well. He drops a test at the end of the course as well.

Dr. Pollock understands that the majority of the students in this class are non-boiology majors and teaches accordingly. He doesn't go unnecessarily deep into the topics and breaks thing down to the basics. He post powerpoints after lectures but only if class attendance doesnt drop. I didn't go to class much at all and pulled off a low B by just studying powerpoints and reading the book for clarification but GO to class to fully understand and you are sure to get an A. Grading is clear and homework and quizzes help a lot and can only raise your grade not lower it even if you only do 1 out of 10! I took him for Biol 1001 too, fun guy; makes Biol interesting( well interesting enough)!

This class was SUPER time consuming and tests were hard. Taken in computer lab. He LOVES plant biology and knows most of us are pre med\dent\ot\pt, etc. so this is the only time we will have the opportunity to learn about plants. The majority of the class was plants and at the end we did body systems. Worked SO hard for an A but was extremely gratifying. Pollock is a very nice guy, accessible, helpful during office hours. Go review your test with him after you take it-he makes note of who comes to office hours.

He claims you don't need the book at all but, his tests have absolutely nothing to do with the notes. You could learn every single thing in the notes and still not make an A. He's a pretty nice dude though.

Take the class if it's required for your major. You spend like half the semester talking about plants, which isn't that interesting to me, but other than that it's interesting stuff. Pollock is a good teacher, he's really into what he teaches (especially the plant chapters) and makes it more engaging. He has office hours every week and really helps you when you go see him. He wants you to do good so he'll give you test question hints and he goes over the online quizzes the day before they are due and gives you all the answers if you ask him. We had 9 online quizzes but he dropped the two lowest. Tests were computer based and were solely on the notes presented in class from powerpoints, which Pollock puts on Moodle. I never opened my book and was able to make a B on every test and an A on the final. Tests have a few tricky questions, but are not very difficult, I only studied the day before the test. He also curved two of the tests by a couple points. If you must take this class, I would definitely recommend Pollock.

He is someone who definitely loves what he does. He provides power points online so you can follow his notes. He also gives you about 10 quizzes throughout the semester to help bump your grade. The quizzes are really easy and are directly from the notes. The tests are difficult and require a lot of studying. They are also computer based, which makes them more difficult. If you go to his office, he is willing to work one on one with you until you understand the material. The only bad thing is that he loves plants, and I hated plants...so the course involves A LOT of plant chapters. Overall a great professor!

do not take this class in summer. way too much information covered throughout a week. Pollock is a great teacher, but take during a regular semester

Pollock knows how to get the point across; his powerpoints are helpful although reading the book before the exams will come in handy. There was a curve at the end of the semester which was great

Study the power point slides and you are golden. Pollock isn't bad, but class is really boring.

Easy course with light material. Pollock is awesome. He likes to give "hints" and clues about the exams, which are incredibly easy. No class participation grades, but he has his ways of helping those who come to class. Great Professor!!

The class is helpful in learning about diseases, but the tests can be very tricky and difficult.

Pollock was an overall fair teacher if you went to class, but the only grades were tests and quizzes.

I hate science but needed a science course - got notes off noteswap and didn't go to class - made a B. So, not too bad - Take Polluck if you have to - he is helpful in office hours too. Nice guy. Curves at the end of the course :)

Pollock's a nice guy, and pretty funny, but there's always questions on his tests that aren't in your notes. He will give you the answers to quizzes if you stay after class and ask him. Drops lowest quiz and test grade.

He lectures with outlines that are easy to follow, the content just isnt very interesting. He is very willing to help with any questions..go to his office hours! He gives fair curves and you have a small onlin quiz about every week to help your grade

Class was boring but easy, Pollock directly went off his notes and dropped and curved many grades.

Learned alot in his class and enjoyed the personal stories told! He makes you want to go to class everyday. Exams are straight from the powerpoint slides. In class exams and online openbook quizzes. First time teaching 1202, he might be harder now.

It is your basic intro class. Take Pollock, he is the easier teacher in the department, the tests are straight forward and from his notes.

The ease of the class is what makes it bearable. He never posts anything when he says he will. Don't waste your time e-mailing him because he WILL NOT respond. Doesn't explain notes very well. If the class was any harder, noone would recommend it.

Very easy class. He ended up dropping lots of quizzes and a test. Funny guy, even if he is Canadian. I usually just read over my notes a few times and did fine.

Biol 1001 is supposed to be a general course. This man went into soo much detail I felt like I was a Bio major. He is a research man and he started teaching which was not a good idea. if you like Bio take him, if not find someone else.

Overall he's ok. The tests are hard, and the quizes are ify (do them with a friend).

Take this teacher!!! Very easy straightforward class. Quizes are easy and so are Exams. Finals not tough. He changes the grading scale at the end of the semester that got me my B! Really easy....

This class was not too difficult. drops 3 lowest quiz grades and sometimes the lowest test grade. got an 87.7 and an A in the class. test are usually curved by 3-4 points.

Dr. Pollock is funny but monotonous. He's clear and fair on all exams and schedules. The class itself is pretty elementary and boring.

Pollock is one of the best teachers I had this semester. He is very entertaining and really knew how to relate everything to things we are all familiar with.

TAKE POLLOCK! He's funny and WANTS you to learn the material. His notes were powerpoint and easy to follow. Keep up with the readings and you'll do fine. He curves a lot also. He curved our final grade one letter grade higher!

Pollock is extremely unfair. He takes an easy subject and makes it confusing and hard. His tests don't make sense and his class is extremely boring. Do yourself a favor and take any one else!

Great teacher, curves almost every test. if you miss class, all you have to do is read the book. Read and study the book and you can get a solid A

His lectures are not that bad, i just had him scheduled too early. He is a nice guy but is entirely too indepth for a nonscience major biology. His tests are pretty difficult as well.

Pollock was a decent teacher who presented the material easily enough to understand it. You don't HAVE to read the book, but it definitely helps out a lot.
