Basically a class of participation and mini presentations and 1 final 10 min presentation. Grading presentations is always subjective, and sometimes I didn't understand why I got the grades I got. However, it did help with improving my oral spanish skills.

Baena is a wonderful Spanish teacher. Take him if you have to choose between different ones. He has a good sense of humor and will make you laugh while you learn. Just don't make him mad! I'm normally not that good at Spanish, but with his teaching style, I got an A in this class.

Most Spanish classes are a nightmare, but I enjoyed Baena's class. He made the information accessible and fun, with little cartoons and jokes. Like any other Spanish class, you do have to work to get a good grade. But if you put forth the effort, Baena will help as much as he can. The oral exams are difficult and done in groups. Just be prepared, over prepared.

Baena expects alot, but in turn he teaches very well so you understand and learn.

Baena's class is interesting but the tests are tricky. He's a pretty nice guy overall but a harder grader than most profs i've had. Get ready to read almost every night!

Try and test out of this course if you can. It is very tedious, Baena grades hard, and grows very antagonistic towards the class as the semester progresses.

He is nice but extremely particular. He truly ENJOYS grammar, so get ready to have everything extremely picked apart and diagram sentances in spanish. I learned things about grammar I didn't know in english

If you can avoid Baena, do it. He is a nit-picky grader, tests have random questions worth 20 points a piece, and he was not helpful when approached with questions during office hours. He is VERY into grammar.

Baena is a fantastic professor, entertaining and easy to understand... Before I knew it, I was taking notes in Spanish! He is a tough grader, but a moderate amount of studying should get you through the class just fine.

if you get him, SWITCH...it doesnt matter if you do all the assignments and show up everyday.. he grades hard and doesnt care if you fail.

I could have had an A in the class if I studied for the final. I like Baena; he grades fairly & consistently, & this class is not too bad. Do not be afraid of it (I was initially).

Baena is awesome. He knows how to explain the material and does a great job explaining. He does not expect you to be a Spanish expert just by reading the book.

EXCELLENT teacher, very willing to explain anything you don't understand, very funny, tries to make the class as fun as he can, which is pretty hard considering it's a grammar class....
