If you have to take this class, which is the only reason you should take it, Matus is good. She will help you if you need it. She has no control over the course b/c it's controlled by the spanish department so I can't blame her for the fact that the class sucks. So many assignments, homework online and from the text book. I like the format she uses for oral exams, you get to do them in groups.

Not an easy class, but if you do the homework and study Professor Matus will get you through it.

This class is very time consuming and if you don't have to take it, then don't! Matus is not fair with her grading at all. She seems to pull participation grades out of thin air! Speaks very little English and is hard to communicate with.

She speaks very softly, but stops to explain new material efficiently. Mostly uses words we already know. Frequent departmental quizzes and exams. Your oral Spanish can be weak, but writing skills must be pretty strong for this class.

SRA. MATUS is 100% Spanish! Phsyically & Mentally! This wont be your cool teacher. But She is actually REALLY Good at teaching! She makes extra help sheets for us! Orals were in PAIRS!! Even though I hate spanish, I was never Lost! Just Participate!!

I was very hesitant about taking this course, but Matus is so gentle and understanding that I felt very much at ease in her class... Expect plenty of assignments that require you to speak in front of your classmates, and try not to miss class!

DON'T take Sra. Matus if you care about your grade. There was only like 1 A in my class. She does not try to help students in any way. On one oral, she "corrected" our transcript and still counted off for grammar!
