I don't understand why everyone believes that he is hard. You have three exams and he drops your lowest one. If you do great on you first exam then you have it pretty easy. It was the easiest class that I have ever taken. Take Roche.

He is a great teacher and his class is very interesting, especially when he throws rocks at you (not to harm you) but his test are killers. His notes in class are pointless its simply a skimpy outline of the text. You definitley must read the text.

Roche is a jerk! You can memorize the book and the notes word for word and still make C's on his test. He pulls questions out of no where for the test.

He makes the class very interesting by bringing in different rocks and experiments to explain concepts. I recommend bringing the book to class to highlight text and diagrams! Don't take this class unless you have time to read every book thoroughly!!!

The class is very challenging for 1001. I would recommend an easier teacher, but as long as you do the work, you can make the grade you want. You just have to try and put some effort. He's a really nice guy and is willing to help.

He puts all of his notes on power point. He gives at home quizzes and homework that pulls up your grade, However, his tests will be impossible unless you read the book and know every sentence. Studying is tough but he gives a big curve.

Geology is a difficult course and can be very intimidating, but if you put in the effort and study the online quizzes before the test, you'll be fine. It can seem like you failed a test, but a 65 can end up being a B.

For those of us who took 7th grade life sciences, this class was NOT hard. A lot of material, but much is review. Roche is nice but anal. Too much work for an intro class, but an A is very doable and the info and presentation is neat.

Dr. Roche is a REALLY nice guy! But his tests have nothing to do with the material covered in the class or the book, and he has to adjust his grading scale so people can pass because everyone makes 60s on the exams.
