The class was a major disappointment to me; as a political science major, I was hoping for a class far more interesting than this one. It was pretty much a repeat of high school American government, and went into far too much detail on mundane issues. The lectures, therefore, could practically put you to sleep. That being said, Dr. Hogan is a very nice guy-the content of the class was just so boring. Dr. Hogan was sometimes not very clear on what he wanted us to write on exams and papers, so definitely ask him to clarify things that don't quite make sense. Also, he facilitated class discussions, but let a couple of chatty students dominate the discussions to the point that it was hard for others to get a word in edgewise. However, he was good about calling on others if they would raise their hands. The exams and papers weren't bad, but you had to answer the questions exactly the way he wanted to get full credit; he wants specifics, and not any irrelevant information. He gave us a good heads-up on the content of the final exam, however. If you're a political science major, there aren't very many polisci Honors classes, so definitely take this, because overall it's an easy Honors credit-it's just very boring.
