Dotson has 2 test and a final. Test has about 15-20 short answer Qs and one essay. He gives you 3 possible essays and one is on the test, one is changed. Final is just a 3 test with an extra essay. Test questions are pretty easy, imo

Interesting class and not ridiculously boring. All essay exams, but questions come directly from lectures. 3 exams, no cumulative final. Provides a basic outline before each class and you fill it in. Not necessary to buy text or read 3 required books

Rand is a great lecturer and makes the material very interesting. The TAs left a lot to be desired but the tests weren't too bad.

Dotson's class was so interesting. I went to every lecture and even refer back to my notes when making lesson plans for my own history classroom. The assigned books were excellent. In all, an excellent history teacher and easy to make an A.

dotson is really chill and his tests are basically the same from the past 5 years... gives you 3 choices of an essay then puts 2 on the tests and you choose one and it's worth 1/2 the tests so just get a good essay together

Very interesting class...worth taking. Mr. Dotson is funny and makes the lectures extremely interesting. The test were easy...he gives you possible essay and short answer. Study your notes...the book isn't necessary for success.

THIS IS ONE OF THE EASIEST CLASSES AT LSU!!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO TO CLASS AND GET THE NOTES...DONT BUY THE BOOK BECAUSE THE TEST IS STRICTLY FROM THE NOTES.

Dotson is great- he knows everything about the class and throws in random jokes or slides that really don't pertain to anything to keep you awake. I went to class maybe 5 times and got b's on the first 2 tests- get notes/some tests from noteswap.com

This class was extremely interesting but not too difficult. Dotson is a good lecturer and keeps things interesting and not too complicated. His T.A. grades a little tough but the tests are NOT HARD AT ALL if you get the main points of his lecture.

you need to read the whole book!!! his student teacher graded our test and he was not sympathetic at ALL :/...Dotson was like the Dry Eyes commercial man, no expression.. you go visit him w/ your test & questions, looks over it & might give ex pts

i LOVED this class and the teacher! come to class and study over your notes and youll do fine. he gives out sample essay questions for study guides and questions from the outside reading. hes GREAT!! take him and this class! very interesting

Rand is a great teacher. You just have to go to class because the test is straight from the notes. Test are easy for a history class.

Easy class, easy tests, easy A. Despite having American histroy courses in junior high and high school, there is alot to be learned from taking this course. Go to class, listen to his boring lectures, and read over your notes - easy, easy, easy.

Dotson is a great teacher. Great communication skills. The tests are very easy. But you cannot miss class, all the material on the tests come from the notes, so if you miss class you miss out on important information

Dotson is the best Proffessor I have ever had. He gives study guides for every test and he makes the outside reading very easy. Definately take him.

Nice man but kinda boring. Alot of note taking and long easy test but all in all i thought it was an easy class. I made an A in it and that was the first A i ever got at LSU!!!!

Dotson gives clear outlines for notes and speaks very well. This is one of the best classes I have taken at LSU. Dotson's grading is more than fair and tests are easy as long as you go to class.
