I took this class with him at a community college in the Summer of 2006. He hates LSU as well as those whose writing style he does not agree with. Basically calls you stupid in class but stand up to him and he will give you the grade you deserve.

kind of a boring class. you never have to go except when you have a paper due. he does help you though and sometimes the discussions that you have in class are funny and are interesting to talk about. strange topics though

Dr. Calmes was pretty cool and nice; two tests (consisting of only an essay) and two papers; grades easily; no in-depth discussion of any one story.

Calmes is an easy grader. However, the class itself is boring because Calmes likes to ramble on. Unfortunately, class attendance is necessary for a good grade. Take someone else if you're an English major.

Calmes really is a nice guy, but he is very unorganized and his expectations of the students were not clearly defined which made the class more difficult than it needed to be. Also very boring, but grades pretty easy

His lectures are very boring and confusing, he does little to help his students outside of class. Take English 2025, just don't take it with Calmes.
