Notes on Noteswap.com, make it easier to follow during a lecture!! Read the books required!! Don't have to take one test, he does take to rabble on sometimes.. but overall a good teacher and easy class!!

This guy is so boring, but if you can get the notes from someone you don't have to go to class. He doesn't make you take all his tests, so i you want you can just show up for the final. I just took the first and last test.

i love history so this was easy for me but Rodrigue is VERY boring! the tests were really easy as long as you paid attention to his lectures. he lectures like a story while following an outline. there are 3 interesting books to read. class was "ok".

definitely favorite class so far. lectures were so organized it made notetaking and understanding simple. the course content is very interesting & tests arent bad if u go to class. dont waste time or $$ on textbook but read novels-they arent that bad

Class was ok, a little disappinting, mainly due to overemphesis in boring subjects like the Gilded Age and Louisiana Purchase and little coverage on French and Spanish Louisiana. Three midterms, all essay & 3 books. His TA's graded very easily.

Good instructor--knows his stuff! Good sense of humor...tests aren't too bad but depends on which one of his graders does your papers; 1st test i got a 74 and 2nd i got a 97 just b/c 1 grader goes a lot easier than the other!

You'll read 3 books, exams are essay, but the content of the class is very interesting. Go to class though! Cumulative part of final is very tough, don't rely on it for points!

Rodrigue is VERY boring. I'm a history major and I fell asleep daily during his ramblings. Interesting material, but he kills it. I was very disappointed in this class. It is quite difficult also.

The man gives a 3rd midterm and final at the same time and his grad students grade all tests harshly despite the fact that Rodrigue says he isn't worried about "details"-worst history class at LSU I've ever had!

Don't buy the textbook, use his outlines. Good material, he is a little boring. Tests are all short answer and 2 essays. Outside reading required, not great readings.

If you like history, and interesting tidbits about LA, it is a very interesting class; he makes even the most boring things interesting! BUT it DOES take up time- for the final- i sat with the TA for hours to get help. I suggest using TA's

This class doesn't have to be as hard as Rodrigue makes it. All his tests are long essays & the final is the third test & the final all in one so lots of pressure. No homework or anyway of getting any extra credit. But the material isn't hard.

The outside required readings were interesting. If you can find someone with the notes, you don't ever have to go to class. I only went the first month to class and never went again.

Do NOT take this if you don't have to. Material is interesting but tests are rediculous. You never know what the graders will take off for. The final is insane and he gives no guidance about what to study. I got an A, but studied day and night.

Rodrigue does not give any review for the 3 tests, no extra credit, no homework, and all of the test are short and long essay. You also have to read three novels and go to EVERY class, so plan to devote your life to this class to get a good grade!

Dr. Rodrigue is not a native Louisianian, but he definately tries hard to do the class justice. He is well-organized and makes his expectations for the exams very clear. It is a lot of information to digest, but the books are interesting.
