Professor Walsh is HANDS DOWN the hardest Art History professor. An A is a very hard grade to get in his class. Each exam has an essay that's worth 60% of your exam grade and you have 30 minutes to write it, but each "question" has about 4 questions that you have to cover and his grading is very subjective. Also, he just a little mean. If you speak up in class he will make you feel dumb if you've said something unintelligent. take someone else.

Walsh knows his stuff and expects you to memorize slides of artwork and periods in history. Does require a lot of time outside of class to study, but the material is interesting and he's really enthusiastic about teaching it. Offers bonus opportunities. Rarely curves.

the tests are very hard - there is A LOT of material for exams, but only a little of it is actually on the test. he doesn't grade too hard. there is a paper and daily quizzes you must study for. if you go to every class, you don't need the book.

I had already taken a 4000 level art history class and the 1000 level was harder. He was absent for the tests so I had to ask the TA who knew nothing. I still feel he misgraded my tests. He was difficult to meet with outside of class.Don't take Walsh!

Walsh has ridiculously hard exams that are difficult to prepare for. Get ready for a lot of studying and reading if you take him.

Gives daily quizzes that you must study for. They can really hurt your grade if you don't attend class or if you don't study.
