SYLVESTER J (MC)

I took MC 3018 in Spring of 2012. It was the most miserable MC class I've ever endured. Manship wonders why their students hate 3018 and then they let this lady teach this class. I am still not sure what Sylvester EVER wanted from her students. I did decent in the class, but even though I attended every single day I still have NO idea what the real objectives of the course were. She is very concerned with her own research and not very concerned with the class. She talks about her pointless research subjects, she is rude to guest speakers, and all she cares about is her anti smoking campaign. You can ask all the questions you want for clarification, you'll never really get a clear answer. The ENTIRE class was unsure of what we really had to do for the final project. This lady is SO UNORGANIZED and so unclear. You'll survive if you have to take this with her but prepare to be miserable. Also, don't expect her to know much of anything about anything but research. I still don't think she's really clear on what PR actually is.

Sylvester was unprepared for class. The exams weren't too bad, but for the research project she was very vague in what she expected. Her lectures were also hard to followl

This class was miserable. It's as if Sylvester found the most boring topic in the whole world and found a way to make it even MORE boring. Sylvester was easy enough, though. You can't avoid this class so you might as well get it over with.

Horrible teacher. Was not clear on what she wanted for assignments and took 92835077894234 years to give back papers. Dont take her because I do not think she is all there!

Sylvester is actually an easy teacher. The course content isn't fun AT ALL and you will be stressed toward the end of the semester, but it's not too terrible. And in retrospect, the SPSS project/paper really wasn't that bad.

Learned a lot, but taught by Sylvester, a teacher who taught material that was right to her, not by the book.

DO NOT TAKE SYLVESTER! She is the worst teacher in the MC department. She is hard to understand, never expains anything, and makes you feel incompetent. She gives so many irrelevent assignments and there are in-class assignments everyday. HORRIBLE!

She's spacy and doesn't clarify specifically what she wants and leaves you confused the whole time and stresses you out!

Just when you realize that going to her class is a waste of time, she gives a pop-quiz. You will also get sick of hearing about her anti-smoking campaign.

Work hard up until the final and blow it off! Gauranteed B.

Sylvester is MISERABLE! She's the only PhD I've ever had with no redeeming values. She's boring and gives you crap to do that's completely irrelevant and has her students do her research for her. The work is retarded and so is her grading.

She gets way too excited about research and is SO boring. Going to class is a must, you have an in-class assignment everday. But she hardly ever gives work and the projects are fairly easy.

Sylvester made no effort to relate the course content to real-world situations. It seemed she was more preoccupied with her research than with students. I didn't get a lot out of this class, and it was tedious, but easy.

It's actually kind of a scary experience, taking that class. Dr. Sylvester makes you feel like you're a nuisance, and she'd rather be somewhere else...probably doing research.

This is a very boring class and Slyvester made it worse. Her grading isn't very hard though (except on pop quizzes).

Super boring material, and Sylvester's teaching didn't help at all.
