Hawkins is really great, he wants you to know the material and do well. Definitely need the book, because his tests cover both book material and notes (doesn't give notes on Moodle so you have to go to class). He speaks kind of quietly so you have to really pay attention. Have to study a lot, but he drops a test so that helps

Dr. Hawkin's test require studying, but as long as you read the text, you'll do fine. He's got a great sense of humor and made the material more interesting than it would have been. I really enjoyed Dr.Hawkins and this class.

The class material was very extensive, interesting, and inspiring... and Hawkins was one of the most knowledgable professors I've ever had at LSU.

The class closely resembles a basic history class, and the lecture can occasionally drag on. But Dr. Hawkins is an intelligent, approachable professor who's down to earth and enjoys teaching the class.

Dr. Hawkins is a very effective teacher. His tests are extremely hard, but if you prepare well, you'll do fine. He also drops a test to help students out.

If you are a psyc major, you have to take this class. Hawkins spends half the semester lecturing on Greek philosophy, early physiology, etc before you even talk about psychology, so be prepared. You must scan the book at the very least.

The class was interesting, but his tests are half fill-in-the-blank so unless you remember every person & book he ever mentioned you'll fail. Don't bother reading the book- it's not on the test.

I had him for 4008 and 4034. Tape his lectures if you can. An average of 10-12 questions from each lecture will be on the tests. Read each chapter twice and use the study guide flash card and the cd tutorial. You have to study from day one.

Nothing but memorization. Remembering who wrote what book, who came up w/ this term. A little boring, but required for psyc majors. Hawkins is nice guy and smart guy, but doesn't realize we are all as smart as him.

Dr Hawkins expects students to remember EVERY word of your notes, and every other word of the book it seems like. he's nice, but thinks everyone's a genious like him. Fill in the blank tests. Unfortunately this class is a must for psyc majors.

This is not an easy A psych class. However, Dr Hawkins is a wonderful teacher and does a very good job of presenting the information. As long as you take good notes and read the book, you should do fine.

This was the hardest class I have ever taken. Dr Hawkins is a genius but he expects you to be too. If you are a biology major you might do well. Watch out for fill in the blank tests. Do not take this as a psyc elective.
