I came into this class with a great love for the Renaissance and left with distain. DO NOT TAKE HER if you can avoid it. She was completely wrong with many facts. Must write 2 6-page (absolutely no outside research allowed) papers and read 7 books.

The most boring teacher at LSU. This was supposed to be my easy elective class but ended up getting a C because the TA grades the exams IMPOSSIBLY. You have to read a ton of sources (half of them don't make ANY since). TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!

I liked this class but missed too much due to sickness, hence the C. Dr. Kooi is interesting, but a dry lecturer. Two ID/essay exams, 2 papers (grades hard on them!), good books to read.

Kooi was very interesting. Can get boring at times (but all history can). Her tests are straight from sourcebook readings and there are quite a few of them. Quizzes are semi-easy.

I am a biology major and I took this as an easy elective-- it turned out to be the ONLY B I have!! She speaks monotone the entire class and you have to read a ridiculous amount of extra material!! DON'T TAKE HER!!!!! Easy class, HORRIBLE teacher

Kooi's class is not the most lively atmosphere, but she gives you exactly what you need to know. She was very organized.

Dr. Kooi is a wonderful teacher, but I don't know how the TA sleeps at night. She is the most unfair grader I have ever had. DO NOT take this class if grades are important to you.

The teacher spoke in such a monotone voice, and the lecture content was only really useful for quizzes. Exams were essay and required a lot of reading outside of class.

This class was very straight forward, but there was not much chance to mess up there were only 3 tests and the final was extremely difficult. Be prepared to bring coffee to class to stay awake being that this teach is very long winded.

Not a hard class, same as world history from high school, essay tests, information on the test is clearly explained, I would have had a solid B or an A if I didn't mess up on the final
