COSTELLO B (ENGL)

Costello is hands down the best English professor at LSU. He knows the material, he's fun and never makes you feel stupid. He's not the quickest when it comes to grading and returning grades but if you do MOST (about 75%) of the reading and attend about the same amount of classes you'll know what your grade is. You write one paper completely on your own then a research paper. Part of the final is a take home essay then the other is identifying quotes (usually options of 10 out of 12) and its not something like "there he is!". Its usually easy to identify. That one bad review is from this stupid bitchy girl in the class that everyone hated anyway.

I'm really surprised by the positive reviews of Costello. HE'S TERRIBLE. There are only 5 days left of class and we just now got our FIRST graded assignment back. And he grades very, very harshly. Going to class is a complete waste of time, it's boring and you don't learn anything. But he takes role and has asinine in-class journal assignments that make you go (um, this is not high school) and that are basically just a way to take up class time since he has no lesson plans or incomprehensible lecture. There are much better teachers in the department than this atrocious, vacuous teacher.

Costello is a funny, interesting guy that students can relate to easily. The class, ENGL 4222 (American Graphic Novels) was great, and Costello knew what he was talking about. I had to turn the Final in late, and he actually understood!

Reading is stiff and boring but Costello makes it fun. Keep up with the reading.

Dr. Costello is amazing - friendly, hilarious, and makes coming to lecture fun! Grading was tougher than I expected, but the class was worth it.
