Dr. May is truly brilliant, but very easily distracted. Lectures are almost never about the readings, mostly just his ramblings about random topics. Fortunately, the only thing your grade depends on is the final. Ace the final, make an A in the course.

Don't take MAY! You must go to class, bc quizzes count for a lot of your grade. But, at the same time class is pointless. May talks about useless info not related to class the whole time. Expect LOTS of outside reading! FINAL is HARD!!!!

The lectures were rambling, incoherent, and often irrelevant. He is impossible to take notes on. The format of the quizzes was confusing, even bizarre, and did not reflect the material covered. Overall, a horrible experience.

May has a difficult time completing his explanationsof what he wants from us and what the material is about. Talks too much about religion. IMPOSSIBLE quizzes! No essays until the final though.

May is a very dry and monotone lecturer that will put most people to sleep. Grading is somewhat subjective, so show a little interest and get to know him outside class and you're golden. Tests are all short answer, essay, and take home.

Mr. May is amazingly nice; he is very willing to work with students and is fair. He lectures with personal opinion, is brilliant, and very funny-a real treat.

Dr. May is a wonderful professor- Obviously someone who is passionate about his subject. He has a fantastic sense of humor and is always willing to go above and beyond to get his students interested in early American lit.

This guy made the class laugh. He was a good teacher and he wanted to help as long as you put forth the effort. Write down the questions he asks in class and be sure to listen for the answers. That will help you on the tests.
