SPIVAK D (CHEM)

Dr Spivak is always willing to help during office hours. If you are having trouble, go see him for help. The lecture is a little boring, but organic chem is an interesting subject to study.

Spivak is a horrible teacher. I dont even bother going to class because I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HIM. I had to learn everything myself. I tried going to office hours, but when I showed up he acted like I was bothering him. NOT COOL. The exams are hard. If you miss one multiple choice question it is 6 points off. He does not curve either. One of our tests had an average of 55 but he still did not curve! Duran and Spivak are ridiculous and I would not suggest taking them.

DANGER !! if you plan to go to medschool and not have your dreams crushed do not take him! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, HE MAKES THIS CLASS SO HARD because he does not teach it, he reads it. I do not understand how LSU keeps him, he is not one of the worst professors, but THE WORST one I have ever had. All in all, he does not explain chemistry he reads it. I am not saying this because I have a grudge on him, not at all he seems to be an enthusiastic smart person, just a really bad chem teacher ! Take someone else

Spivack is a really good teacher. He doesnt curve like most teachers, but he is easy to understand, and you can substitute your home work grade for your lowest exam grade. (Huge help)

I felt like my knowledge was reflected better in this class than with Crowe. Overall, I really got the impression that he cared about teaching this stuff. although a bit set in his ways, he wasnt that bad. organic is hard as hell, but w spvk its ok

Spivak is the worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't know the material and will make you fall asleep in class. His tests are extremely dumb but easy. Even though it's not a hard class you will feel miserable.

I didn't like Spivak because he wasn't ever well prepared, and I think our knowledge of spectroscopy was hindered by his inability to solve beginner level NMR problems. Nevertheless, the class was pretty easy.

He doesn't know material himself, he gives poorly written tests not difficult tests, and is a miserable human being. He is an easy teacher but the class sucks.

Organic Chemistry studies the reactions of carbon-based compounds and can seem irrelavent at first. Being that the human body is a giant carbon-based reaction, this course is important for future Health-Professionals. However, bad temper=Dr.Spivak!!!
