GREGG C (BIOL)

Biology really isn't in my interests at all, but to fill science requirements, it's bearable. Dr. Gregg was really nice; I liked him a lot, even though I don't care for biology at all. The only problem was that Dr. Gregg could not keep the noise in the classroom down; people talked all the way through his lectures. The online quizzes are fairly easy, since they are open book and you can take all the time you want to get through them. Definitely take the pre-tests; the actual exams aren't bad as long as you've really studied the material. The course actually got easier as the semester went along; I barely had to study for the last test. What's nice is that the last test, the "final" exam, is during final exam week, but it's not any different than any of the other tests: it's non-cumulative and counts for the same grade percentage. The bonus clicker points are definitely a plus. I can't say that I actually loved the class, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, thanks to the professor.

boring class but you need to go because of clicker quizzes and don't leave early either. just bring your laptop and get comfortable. you get 4 skip days i think though. you also need to buy the online quiz thing. i didn't use the book at all and got no more than 2 questions wrong on all of my tests. download powerpoints, take pretest, remember questions you weren't sure about, learn answers, ace actual test. very easy.

Biology is boring. Gregg makes it even worse. He has little personality and while he does try to give life to the class, he usually falls short... real short. Going to class is pointless because you only do well on the tests if you read the textbook well and tests are 90% of your grade, but 5% of the last 10 is class attendance. Only recommended if you are good at retaining three to five chapters of information for a thirty question test.

Gregg made biology way harder than it had to be. The most he curves a test is two points and his tests are not easy. He always puts 4-5 tricky questions purposely meant to bring your grade down. The tests are on like 5 chapters and he only asks 30 questions so there is little room for error

This class started off being difficult, however after the first two exams you get used to his testing style. TAKE THE PRE-TEST! It helps. Go to class and get bonus points before holidays. You need the book-it's a life saver (at least to me). His PPT's were only a reference. Ended up with a B with a little work.

Gregg is sooo boring and he doesn't demand any respect from the class. I barely ever went once I figured out the class was only good for getting on facebook. The material is possible to learn by yourself, and if you need to ask him any questions he'll help you on his office hours. I hate science so even when i studied the entire day I ended up getting a B, but the material really isn't that bad. Find a friend and take turns going to get clicker points. He drops six after the semester so if you miss a couple times it's no big deal. He also curves a point or two on the tests, but it's not enough to rely on. DO THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES!

Biology is always difficult, but if you put the time in, it's not that bad. Dr. Gregg is funny, even when he doesn't mean to be. His voice cracks in lecture which is hysterical. He's a real good guy and likes to cook eggs in Everclear and eat them in class. He knows what he is talking about and teaches from the book. You don't have to go to class if you don't want when it comes to understanding what is being taught, but he does use the clickers to take grades, but it's only like 2% of the final grade. I suggest taking Dr. Gregg if you decide to take Bio for your life science.

If you like biology this review is irrelevant to you. I hated this class and was in a canstant countdown till the end of the semester. The exams are very conceptual and specific. Even if you read all of the chapters you still won't know what he's asking. Gregg's powerpoint are no help. Take another science for GenEd requirements.. this class was awful.

Dr. Gregg made learning about all the phylums in fungi, protist, plants, bacteria, and all that dreadful stuff a little bit more tolerable. Gives extra points for attending days before holidays. Take Gregg for 1202!

This class blows. It's boring. No one cares about plants. It's a ton of memorization of boring meaningless facts. It's just a pain. Gregg isn't a bad teacher but his tests aren't that straightforward. Don't waste time going to class, he doesn't change his notes. get someone to bring your clicker.

Dr. Gregg is so sweet, but his exams are somewhat tricky. Read the book, attend lectures, and take good notes and you may do well on the tests.

Funny guy, and definitely an easy A or B. Go to every class so you can accumulate as many bonus points as you can. Has pretests which are basically the same questions as the regular tests.

Gregg is one of the easiest professors at LSU. Attendance is needed for daily clicker questions, but all of his notes are on Noteswap.

Gregg is a good teacher, but he makes you memorize A LOT of classifications of organisms. For someone bad at rote memorization, this can be challenging and takes a ton of time. Tests are fairly difficult. Be prepared to study a lot.

Gregg is awesome. TAKE THE PRETEST! It is exactly like the real test. Go to class, he gives bonus points on days before breaks when he knows that people will skip. He doesn't put the powerpoints on moodle so take notes in class.

Gregg is Awesome. He goes slow in class so everyone can understand him. Some say you don't need the book but you really do. There are some good notes on note swap for him too. Great Teacher.

Gregg's class is one of those I can't wait to get to during the day because it isn't boring, but it's still incredibly laid back.

The lectures are boring, but what introductory biology class isn't? He gives in-class clicker quizzes and bonus for good attendance. Go to class the lecture before finals if you want an extra point. Follow book with your notes to study for exams.

He sucks; I was .4% points away from a C and he did not give it to me; easy class but he is stuck up for that

Just read the book for tests and it's an easy A. Tests are not very difficult. If you can find a friend to take your clicker, then class attendance isn't really needed either.

Probably one of the easiest teachers in the biology dept. He gives you whats going to be on the exam in his study guides he posts. Does require a good bit of studying and does attendance quizzes(clicker quizzes wrong or right you still get credit)

Gregg is a good teacher. he's nice and easy to get along with, not intimidating and he's funny. study for the tests like you would any other class you want an A in. take the pretests i made 10 pts higher on the real exam than my pretest.

TAKE GREGG. he is the sweetest man. alot of material is covered in a class period but his exams are straight from his notes and his notes follow along with the book. need to go to class.. but worth it. i actually wanted to go to class. great prof.!!

Gregg is a nice professor, he geniuely cares. If you want a good grade though you have to understand the material. Review the questions from your book (CD), some of those tend to be on the exam!

he gives notes from a powerpoint in class, but they are vague! you need to go to every class b/c he takes attendance by clicker questions! the test are very in-depth! he hardly curves and when he does its by 1 point.

Favorite teacher at LSU so far. Easy tests & lot's of points. I missed lots of class & participation is alot of your grade. READ THE BOOK!! It's all I would use to study and I made 97% + on every test! book + class = A fo sho!

Gregg speaks on biology in a easy-to-understand way. Had to buy those $40 clickers for in-class attendance grades, which pulls up your grade a lot. Five exams, but are only about 15% each. Don't buy the textbook: everything completely lecture-based.

Gregg is a very helpful and informative professor. You can tell that he wants students to succeed while learning the information. My only gripe is that his exams are worth 85% of the grade, so I had to study hard!

Easy, easy, easy. I made 2 C's and 3 B's on the tests and came out with a 95 A. Make 100's on all the simple online quizzes and go to class everday & you'll get several points added to your ending avg. Gregg is strange yet funny guy. Def. take him.

Gregg is one of the easiest teachers for BIOL 1001. He gives credit for being in class and his pretests are exactly like the actual tests.

He is a bit boreing, but I liked him. He always has a pretest which has the same questions as the ones on the test.

Gregg is great! He teaches everything you need to know on PowerPoint. His tests are fairly simple and are almost identical to the pre-tests. I would suggest buying the workbook that comes with the text (i didn't use my actual text book, though)

Gregg is a pretty good teacher. However his notes aren't really comprehensive so you have to study the textbook.

If you went to class, you got 5 ectra points per test. That's the only reason I made an A, but it wasn't too bad if you studied.

Teacher is extremely nice and helps the students who attend class out as much as possible with his clicker points and a curve on test. It is not his fault biology is a hard class.

I'm not a sciences person and this professor was very dull and did not interest me in his lectures or the material in the least bit. If you aren't into the sciences- don't take him.

You can earn an A in this class if you go. The lectures are the test and he gives bonus points for coming to class. You dont need the book if you go to his lectures.

The class sucks (it's biology), but Gregg gives reviews online for the test, he also lets you take the test home when you finish it so find someone who has the class the day before you, there's only about one page different on it

Dr. Gregg was a great teacher. He is one of the nicest professors I took this semester. He knew a lot about the material he was teaching and he made class interesting. His tests were not hard at all and I truly enjoyed being in his class.

He covers wayyy to much material in one class period, and then piles it all in the test. Monotone voice and rather boring material. Don't take this unless you really give a care about Biology b/c u will be bored to death!

gregg is the best bio prof here at lsu, he is intelligent and even makes jokes in class. his tests are super easy compared to the other bio profs so my advice: take gregg

I think Gregg is the best. His tests are in-class unlike the others. If you study, you can do really well. He is the best bc for most teachers you study tons and still fail. Take Gregg-hes kinda boring, but hes a nice guy.

Take Dr. Gregg- he is the best bio 1001 teacher and his tests are a lot easier than the others. He gives you bonus for coming to class and answering the daily quiz questions, and he posts review questions on semster book that really help

Very nice teacher, although BIOL is a boring class. Too much to ask from non-science student. Don't take it if you don't have to. Dr. Gregg is very nice though and gives practice tests which makes it easier to do well on the exams.
