HOLMES J (ACCT)

Not the greatest teacher. Nice teacher though. Just goes over powerpoints and some examples. Clicker quizzes given every week and wiley plus hw. Self studying is required!!! Do examples and read the chapters, more of understanding and applying than memorizing. Basically go to class for quizzes, majority of the time you have to self teach. Hours of studying!!

Do not take her. Save yourself from a semester of 50 minute periods of hell 3 times a week. Annoying voice and doesn't explain anything in class but just goes over powerpoints and random exercises without explanation. She also has random stupid ideas like writing on the whiteboard when there is over 200 people in the classroom. If I knew how bad she was, I would rather have scheduled to go to class at some insane time cos its stil better than taking her

Do not buy this book. It is unbound, a pain to deal with, and you cannot sell it after the class is over. Just buy the Wiley Plus. You can see all the book chapters on the website. This class takes a lot of time, but I almost failed the 2nd exam and finished with an A.

If you know nothing of accounting take Holmes!!! She is super helpful and offers review sessions outside of class. She is quick to respond to emails and will talk before/after class. This class does require some time & she does clicker questions in class, so attendance is a must. She works problems in class and gives powerpoints that are useful to study with.

The 2 Tests during the year are the most important thing in the class. I had a HW average of 100 and Quiz average of 100, but my 2 test average was like 83, forcing me to have to make a 93 or higher on the final to get an A (89.5 or greater) in the class. I never went to class (due to late night bar hopping and 10:30 am being inconvenient), aside from quiz days and that was the only reason I didn't make an A (along with copying every WileyPlus from a bro)

I would absolutely take Holmes for this class. It's a class that is critical for further knowledge, and she's the perfect one to teach it. You MUST stay with it and don't get behind. As long as you do your assigned homework, you'll be prepared for the tests. I can't wait to take her again for my 3 level class!

Ms. Holmes was great for ACCT 3001. It is a hard class but she is definitely the teacher I would take for this class. She gives 2 tests and a Final as compared to only one test and a final like the other ACCT 3001 teachers.

Take her, she goes over notes clearly and also cares about her students and very helpful.

this class isnt fun, holmes is ok. test are real paper fill write out stuff not multiple choice.

This class is departmental, so therefore, your teacher doesn't have much of an effect on your grade on the tests. Holmes was good about going through the chapter problems, though.

Holmes is a very nice lady and an awesome teacher. The material itself is kind of boring, unless you like details. Her quizzes aren't hard, they definitely help your grade alot. Test are dept (unfortunately), the grade u get is what u get.

Holmes is so sweet and she prepares you well for the tests, partly because she's the one who makes them up. Her quizzes are pretty easy too and sometimes lets you work in groups.

Holmes is awesome, and accounting was pretty easy. Gives in class quizzes, exams aren't too bad.

Holmes is nice, understanding. Attendance not required but you gotta go to understand. All notes are powerpoints. Easy class.

I don't like accounting, but Holmes was so helpful and wants her students to succeed.

She inspired me change my major to accouting, great personlity, She's really good, will always help and she prepares you for the test. very easy class if you can handle details, and use a calculator.

Holmes is a great teacher. She is very friendly and is willing to help anytime you need it. Intermediate I is a pretty difficult class and requires a lot of outside work, especially if you take it during the summer.

Holmes gave good notes and they were fill in the blank so you had to go to class. Do all reccommended practice problems. She doesn't let you use graphing calculators, you really have to memorize everything. She has office hours but did not help much.

Good teacher. Explains problems and works examples in class, but a little boring. I sometimes had trouble keeping my eyes open sitting right in front of her.

The class was ridiculously difficult. Holmes cares about her students, but has trouble making them want to learn it. The tests are departmental and the final is impossible.

Holmes was a great teacher. She was always willing to help. But Acct. is boring I do not recommend this class unless it is required.

Holmes isn't that great of a professor.. The only good thing about the class is the powerpoint slides she puts up on SemesterBook. She definitely doesn't prepare you for the departmental exams, that's for sure.

She was a horrible teacher. She just read from the overhead all class and did not prepare us for the departmental exam. Do not take her!!!!

The class wasn't that hard and you get a complete study guide of the whole class which makes taking notes easy
